![]() page 4 [English Translation] Yes in Argentina There is the paradox called Yes. Born out the fertile British rock ground in the late '60s. "progressive" standard-bearers in the '70s, reborn in the '80s, and now reinventing itself again in the '90s. YES has always steered well clear of rock tradition and convention. Deliberately operating independent of fashion, they have regularly refashioned themselves. Yes, in the process, they have managed to become one of rock's most enduring and successful propositions. No less than a dozen players have taken part in the YES drama over the years, a shifting balance of strongly independent musical characters coming together to challenge themselves and each other. Yet, the "idea" of YES has transcended these individual personalities, and the music has managed to maintain an unmistakable YES-ness about it, in whatever incarnation of the band. | ![]() page 5 [English Translation] The Return Of A Legend While some may consider the group "faceless," the music has never been anonymous. In contrast to other major groups of the rock era, there have been few YES clones. It may be that YES, by definition, resists duplication, as it has always been the unique product of distinct musical voices occupying a singular universe. | ![]() page 6 [English Translation] "I never really saw the term rock & roll applying to YES. The challenge was to do something individual, not observing rules. Everything about YES was non-standard. I think we set an example for other bands of how you can be different and be successful." Chris Squire "We did what we set out to do, which was to keep going and not feed the pop machine, because it will swallow you...Music is a very expanding thing. It's an all powerful thing, it's a healing thing, it's a danceable thing, it's a soulful thing, it's a very human thing." Jon Anderson September 12 Luna Park |
