In an absolutely inadequate venue, YES and PFM fighted on backstage with managers wrestling nearly in WWE fashion...
It all resulted in a fine PFM set with not "exactly kind words" towards Yes from PFM's drummer and lead vocalist Franz Di Cioccio, who apparently did not appreciated Roger Dean's inflated sculptures, apologizing to the crowd if "PFM was forced to play with condoms over their heads"... Go figure...
Yes played very late and did not look very inspired. Shortened set, and played with professionalism, and nothing else.
To say I am disappointed is sayinf the least.
And I do not want to say more.
PFM blow everyone away. Would have enjoy the full Yes set and wish they would drop the old tired song in favor of keeping new fresh song as Turn of the Century and acoustic. Second half of show felt too oftened repeated in recent time. Yes need to play some new music for repeat fans who attending often concerts. Was so much wanting Turn of the Century.
"Going for the one" is definitively not my favourite Yes song, then I do not appreciate it very much as a show opener. In addition, imho the vocal armonies are too much complicated to have a nice live rendition. Keyboards and Jon's voice were mixed too low for this one. "Sweet dream" was perfectly performed, but with Jon's voice still too low. I don't think that many people in the crowd were familiar with "Mind Drive" according to their reaction to the song; anyway, the group played a nice shortened version and at the end Jon said "thank you for listening". Then he introduced "Yours is no disgrace". As I said before, "Turn of the century" was dropped", but "South Side of the sky" was just fantastic, one of the highlights of the evening. After "Disgrace" Jon introduced "Owner of a lonely heart", which was played electric, followed by "Rhythm of love" and so we understood that the acoustic set had been dropped... Someone from the public said something, and Jon answered "it's very late"... "And you and I" , "Starship" and Roundabout" were great as usual, but my deception for not hearing "Ritual" and all the acoustic stuff was too big.
Dopo tre ore in piedi la stanchezza passa con esecuzioni perfette di "Going for the One" e "All Good People".
