Juan Great memories of that show. I was 16 years old and I got to meet Patrick and Chris on their way back from Tower records (just across the street) I still have their autographs, and I remeber that during, after the concert and going back home to Tijuana I was in some sort of Cloud Nine. Even now, I get goose bumps hearing in my head Sound Chaser. Roxi Cook In June 1975, Yes played a sold-out general admission show at the San Diego Sports Arena. We got to the venue around 1:00 and there were already lines of about 20 or 30 people at each of the entrances around the round building. By 6:30, the lines stretched way out into the parking lot in all directions, and people were hot, tired and anxious. People were also drunk and drugged out. Someone from the back of our line began a huge push. We tried to hold our ground by pushing back. Then the doors opened and the overwelming surge from the back squashed me between the bodies that surrounded me, lifting me off my feet. My waist-long hair got caught between some people behind me, pulling my head back temporarily while my body was lifted forward. Once I got into the venue, I discovered that my satin blouse was ripped at the seams in a couple of places, and also my chest felt crushed and I couldn't take a full breath for at least half an hour. It was the scariest thing that's ever happened to me at a Yes concert. Great show, though. Sixth row, center, IIRC. I think that was the last general admission show at the SD Sports Arena. Biffy the Elephant Shrew The first time I saw him [Patrick Moraz] with Yes--June 24, 1975--happened to be his 27th birthday. During his "Papillon" piano solo he played "Happy Birthday" to himself. |
