I would like to preface my review by saying I have been a supporter of the Yes lineups without Jon Anderson. They have put on some wonderful concerts. See my review of last years Drama and Tales show.However this show was a disappointment in so many ways. First the sound was terrible, easily the worst of the dozen times I have seen Yes here, and the worst of the 50 or so concerts in total I have seen here. And they were just not together, the end of Southside was a train wreck. But the worst was they took a great concept of playing a song from each album and totally ruined it. Playing Leaves of Green and Soon as the songs from Tales and Relayer was a total cop out. We have heard Time and a word a million times. As we have with Don't Kill the Whale. The Title song from Going for the one is the worst song by far on that album.

Add to that Carl Palmer only got to play 4 songs, and a totally lame performance from Todd Rundgren ( The women next to us said after"was it me or did he really suck") and it made for a very disappointing night.

Saw YESTIVAL in Holmdel last night. Carl Palmer's tribute to ELP was well received but way too short. I have tix to see them headline in Staten Island later this year so looking forward to a full set. Todd Rundgren was in fine voice and very energetic. Guitar work was masterful as always.

As for YES, I've been a fan since my first concert at the Spectrum in 1974. Have seen them countless times since then but stopped when Jon A no longer toured. There was always something magical when I saw YES throughout the decades and JA was a big part of that. I have been supporting JA in recent years, went to ARW at the Count Basie last year and will be seeing them again in October. I was offered lawn seats for free last night as part of the Ticketmaster lawsuit settlement so I broke down and went.I have nothing against Jon D but the magic just wasn't there for me. He was in fine voice but maybe all my great memories of the "real" YES clouded my perception. It was a good show but just not remarkable. Steve was Steve but when he would get on the mike for commentary I couldn't help but think that Jon A should be in that role. I'm not disparaging anything, it's just the YES from my childhood was such an impactful time in my life that maybe I just wanted to re-visit it again for 2 hours. They put up a graphic at the end "coming next year YES 50". It would be a big mistake if Jon A is not part of that lineup. If not, I'll go next year if the lawn seats are free again.
