You can see from Billy's tour diary that it was Geoff's birthday and he played an excerpt from 'Video Killed the Radio Star' followed by the audience singing 'Happy Birthday'.

Carl Palmer's band was excellent. It was inspiring to see the music of ELP re-envisioned without keyboards, played with enthusiasm by young musicians along with the peerless Mr. Palmer. Unfortunately, they only played for twenty minutes. I plan to go see the full set when they return as a headliner.

Todd Rungren had a good voice and an adequate band. What was odd about this performance was that the songs were most interesting when Mr. Rungren played the guitar (he is excellent), but he did so only about 10 percent of the time. The band stayed on stage far too long to precede Yes.

I have seen the 2008-2017 Squire/Howe band (now just the Howe band) five times. In fact, after the last concert I attended in 2014, I thought that I wouldn't go again, they just didn't have enough energy. But we gave them another chance on Thursday.

This was easily the most enjoyable of the five concerts. After taking a couple songs to warm up, the band was very tight. Steve Howe was on fire. His talent remains off the charts. The keyboard and drums parts were solid; Geoff Downs was probably more accurate than I have seen him since 1980. But I was most impressed by Billy Sherwood. He played Squire's parts with subtlety, grace, and tenderness. I especially liked his rendition of the end of the Gates of Delirium. Machine Messiah was breathtaking in its power. The only real disappointment was that they did not play the complete Gates, nor a complete side of Tales.

This concert was so good I want to go see them again, now. I am a little baffled by some of the bad reviews of this tour I have seen.
