Yes finished up their three night stand in Philadelphia with a stellar performance at the Tower Theatre. It's funny how after seeing these concerts five times, different songs have different feelings each performance. Tonight, in particular, "The Revealing Science Of God" was stellar. I also felt that the performances of "And You And I" and "Heart Of The Sunrise" hit the spot as well.

The rest of the show was great as well, but the songs I mentioned above seemed truly extraordinary. It's getting hard to review these shows. The band is resolving all its minor problems and puts on a great performance night after night. The audience in Philly was much more polite than Friday night. They weren't screaming during the quiet parts for a change. (they were chanting Dallas sucks before the show started since the Eagles had beaten the Cowboys). Jon gave football scores again between songs. He commented how the Eagles won. I think I heard him get booed for the first time when he said he was a 49ers fan. Steve altered his solo a bit. He played "Ram" before "Masquerade" and "Clap." Steve asked someone in the crew to "Change the lights" in the middle of "Ram," but I was not able to find out what was wrong with them. It's funny how there may be technical problems the band is experiencing that the audience has no idea about. For instance, Steve said after the show that two of his volume pedals weren't working the entire night.

Chris Squire was interviewed on WMMR in Philly after the show by Ed Sciaky. I think Ed was trying to conduct a serious interview but between Squire himself and the absolutely idiotic callers, a serious interview wasn't going to happen. Some callers asked good question, but others..... One asked for his autograph, and Chris asked if he had a fax machine. Another asked if he was in rehab during the ABWH tour. Chris' answer was that maybe he was on rehab after listening to ABWH. He did add however that he felt Tony Levin was an excellent bass player. They talked a little about the albums coming out. It appears KTAII has been delayed again until November 4th. They went over the Rick Wakeman 700 Club thing again. One caller asked how he and Steve are getting along these days, and Chris replied by saying, "we're in a band together." They talked about Igor a little. His full name is Igor Petrovich Khoroshev, but you can call him "Ivan" (although he signs his name Igor, See ticket stub below). Chris said that he has requested political asylum in the United States. He says that both he and Billy are 32 years old, although Igor looks much younger. He said that they talk to Geoff Downes after Rick left but they decided to go in this direction. Chris was distracted at times during the interview by pictures of the Spice Girls or something. Ed was having a real difficult time keeping the interview serious.

One more word about Yes, I met the Billy, Steve, Alan, and Igor after the show. I have to say that they are all incredibly nice people who really seemed interested in their fans and took the time to talk to them. (By the way, Billy's hair up-close looks as if he has string cheese in it with all the different colors.) Well, that's all for now. I don't see them again until Nov. 9th in Poughkeepsie. This was the concert to end all concerts. After 25 years of following this band, to finally have the opportunity to see them in a small theater rather than a hockey arena was a dream come true. And they did not dissapoint. They were on like never before. I actually sat next to a man who was seeing them for the 17th time and said afterword that that was the best they ever played.

One of the strange highlights for me was the opening number of Rythm of Love. This has never been one of my favorites, yet they really rocked out and seemed to get alot of adrenaline from this song. Other highlights for me were Open Your Eyes, Soon, Long Distance Runaround, And You And I, and Roundabout(the best version I have ever heard.

Steve played a solo piece prior to Masquerade and Clap-does anyone know what it is.

The one low point for me was the jam at the end of Starship Trooper-it seemed like it was getting a bad mix and got noisy. I love the version on KTA so that was dissapointing.

I am glad to see these guys enjoying themselves so much after all these years. Chris said afterwards on a local radio station that they would be back to Philadelphia in the summer on a stadium tour. I'll be there

Sunday Oct. 26,what a great day that was.First of all the Eagles beat Dallas and I was going to see Yes at the Tower Theatre now how can you top that!! The Tower Theatre is Philly's classic concert venue in my opinion basically because of it's relative small size and great sound.(seen many great shows there) When we got in the venue there was not any Dean art displays as promised,oh well.There was a great buzz in the theatre as people wuold constantly sceam out HOW ABOUT THOSE EAGLES! Even Jon mentioned that the Eagles beat the Cowboys.Anyway the show was awsome!! Setlist was the same as it has been including snippets of Sound Chaser,Tempis fugit,ect.They definetly had Igor and Billy turned down,though Igor did seem to be more audible than the nites previous.Steve complained to the light man during has solo pieces that he needed more spots on him but other than that it whet smooth.After the show Chris was on the local radio station(93.3 WMMR)with die hard Yes fanatic and DJ Ed Shiaky and was answering questions from fans who called in.The question that was asked the most was what happend to Wakeman and Chris simply put it that he had a lot of solo commitments and touring in a band would not be possible(oh well).Anyway what a great show and looking forward to seeing them this summer when they come back(Chris promised they 'll be back).
