My best Yesconcert ever.Played in a very cozy environment.
Especially the triangle at the beginning of The Revealing Science of God gave me the biggest goosebumps.

This was the first time I saw Yes performing and I’m pretty sure it was their best concert ever, simply because I can’t imagine any show better than this.

Of course one can always argue about the setlist (I would have been more happy to see them performing something like ‘Perpetual Change’, ‘Onward’ or something from Union or even Talk, or what about Machine Messiah with Jon on vocals, than hearing America and From the Balcony. ‘Soon’ would have been cool too, Jon is certainly capable of singing that, his voice was most of the time as good as on KTA1), but what they did they did perfectly and even more than that. They were obviously having a good time, especially Squire who made the crowd laugh a lot of times, and even did a little mouth-organ solo in And You And I. AYAI and Heart of the Sunrise made the crowd go wild, as did later on in the show I’ve Seen All Good People and finally Starship Trooper. A couple of times Jon thanked the audience for singing along, and there was not a single disturbing event (or it should have been me taking a few flashlight photographs). The accompanying light effects were great in their simplicity and the adjustment to the rythm of the music. During Heart of the Sunrise there was a beautiful sun. The venue, Muziekcentrum Vredenburg, a modern classic concert hall, I guess 3 or 4 thousand people (sold out), is made for Yesshows, not only the vision but also the sound was very, very good, very loud too, but it seems to me there’s no better way to get deaf than by listening to This Perfect Yes. Khoroshev was very good, his fingers seem to be as fast as Wakemans. Sherwood undoubtedly did a good job, but his stage performance (if any) is very flat, it looks like he is paying to much respect for the older guys. One time Howe held his hands about 1 meter from his guitar and looked to the right, like he was saying: ‘Watch this, I’m doing nothing, the sounds you hear right now come from Billy’, which was of course very nice of Steve, but it was a bit of a shame for Sherwood I think. The opening part of a lot of numbers was slightly altered in comparison with the album-versions, which brings around some nice surprises. Some pieces, especially the fantastic RSOG (I think it’s great a 20+-minutes piece of music is played during a concert and it’s receiving a ovation as well) were almost exactly played as on the album (as on KTA1 in this case), which makes you realize once more that this music can be played in reality, by these guys standing there. Unbelievable. So you might consider this an all to much positive review, but hey, I’m only 20 and I’m not yet an old complaining bastard. I can’t wait to see them again in Eindhoven (only 1 month and 1 day from now), but, I Would Have Waited Forever to experience only one such evening of Yes music plus.
