I Won 2 free tickets from a Sam Goody store the night before the concert.YESSSSS! So I took my 13 year old son Matthew to this show.His first concert, and he really liked it! He got a kick out of watching his " Old Man" head-bang when they played "CLOSE TO THE EDGE"! The two Highlights for him were Squire and White's " WHITEFISH", and "OPEN YOUR EYES"(because he really liked that song when I first bought the CD back then).
Chris Squire was decked out in black caped outfit and crewcut hairstyle(GOOD GOD,MAN...WHY!).But it was okay because he played great.I was pleasently surprised when they played "WONDEROUS STORIES", as I haven't seen them do this song since the 77 tour. " AMERICA" was Perfect(one of my all time favorite YES songs).The highlights for me was THE ENTIRE SHOW(when yes played of course,as I'm not much of an Alan Parson's fan).The Setlist was one of the BEST ever; the lighting effects were great(when the SUN finally set),it was a Beautiful night weather-wise,and Nature helped with some effects in the form of a horde of Lightning bugs(as we called them),throughout the show. Even Jon Anderson mentioned the Fireflies( as he calls them) at one point.Truly a wonderful evening seeing my favorite Band! NOW,the only negative thing about this show(if you can call it that) is.....this was the smallest audience attendance for a Yesshow that I've ever been to (alas,they would get even smaller in years to come,unfortunately).I guess things have changed over the years. After the concert, in the car on the way home, my son turned to me and said,"Now I see why you love YES so much,Dad". HAH! ROCK ON!!!

I attended the Yes concert on July 9, 1998 at Tinley Park, Illinois. This was the first time I had seen Yes since the 1995 Talk concert, at the same venue. I was impressed by the sound....this was one of the more clearer concerts I have been to and heard in ages. It was great to see the 'old boys', Steve, Chris, Jon, and Alan, in their glory, as well as the new guys, Igor and Billy. Jon was his usual boisterous self, Steve, the meistro, on key, Alan had his bang(!), and Chris Squire.....a God! In fact, I was hoping to see Chris play "the Fish", and related this hope to a few audience members around me, they told me "nah, he won't do that!"....well.....to all our surprises, he did! And it was one of the most powerful and spectacular solos I have ever been priveledged to see....Chris Squire is truy magnificent!!!!! Billy and Igor did their supporting roles with adequacey, but I don't recall any stellar performaces by either.

All in all, it is GREAT to have YES back!!!!!!! Too bad about Wakeman leaving though.....

I just returned from the show at the New World Music Theater in Chicago. Both Yes and Parsons put on a fantastic performance. The set lists have already been posted, but I'll add the following opinions:

The set list was significantly different enough from the one last fall. I was extremely happy to hear Close to the Edge and Wondrous Stories!

I was frustrated that after Wondrous Stories, sections of the audience behind me were shouting "Play something we know! Play ROUNDABOUT!"

But on to the more amusing part, which is only peripherally related to the band but amusing nonetheless. Me, a 27 year old fan of Yes for years, brought along a friend of mine (21 years old) who is just getting into Yes.

After we were into the show for a bit, a young lady behind us began talking up a storm to both of us. And flirting profusely. I might have been interested, but after the two times during Close to the Edge when she leaned close and said "IS IT A DIFFERENT SONG YET?" I decided I could do better elsewhere. So I suggested to my friend that he should feel free to distract her, as I was trying to actually enjoy the concert. He leapt the seats into the row behind us to talk with her further.

As I turned around after Roundabout, I found him buckling his belt. As this isn't alt.porn, I'll show restraint and let you folks figure out the rest :) Guess anything can happen at a Yes show!
