This show was great! Yes, the band could’ve used another few days rehearsal, yes the tales edit was new, and yes it seemed like the band was getting it together this show. But they still knocked it out of the park. Steve was very well performing all night and same goes for the rest of the band (including a very noticeable Geoff that night.) I enjoyed Steve’s “southern Solo” (I had heard he had copyrighted that part from America and enjoyed its inclusion.) It will be a good day was quite good, as well as machine messiah (one of the two best tracks from the night.) We had some unheard songs, don’t kill the whale, south side, turn of the century (the other best track of the night), and most importantly the remembering. I’m a huge tales fan and have been dreaming to see side 2 live. Only having 3 or 4 minutes makes me slightly sad (as hearing the full track is preferable) but they still performed it very well and I was happy to hear those bits. However I don’t like how they did ritual. They should’ve done the ending with Steve’s slide guitar and the whole thing. The ending they did live was quite anticlimactic. For a second I half-expected them to leave the stage and not come back out. After a rousing roundabout and starship trooper the night came to a close on a good note.
