David B Thursday, February 21, 2013 12:06 PM Order listed is wrong. This is the correct song order: Firebird Suite Parallels I've Seen All Good People Close To The Edge Turn Of The Century Colours Of The Rainbow Wonderous Stories Tour Song And You And I Going For The One Flight Jam Awaken Starship Trooper Roundabout johnb My second YES concert. And it was great, almost magical like the Relayer tour in 1975. The thing I remember most was the laser lighting that sparkled up the webbing suspended over the stage during Awaken. It was good to hear Wakeman play live - as I had heard Moraz in 1975. Rob Doerksen I attended the concert in Vancouver the night before. This morning, Sept 18, two friends and I went to the Bayshore Inn for Sunday Brunch. Yes was having breakfast in the hotel at the same time; Steve had his guitar with him. We mentioned to him that we had missed hearing "The Clap" in concert and would he play it for us in the restaurant that morning. He said "no", but if we would come to Seattle for the concert that night, he would play for us after the concert. He asked the manager to provide us with 3 backstage passes for the concert in Seattle, so we drove down that afternoon. At the concert, Steve suggested we should meet him at the hotel after the concert. So, when the concert was over, we went to the hotel. We had to wait an hour for the band to finish their post-concert dinner, but when it was over, Steve took us to his room and jammed for us for about 45 minutes, playing "The Clap" on his ES-175. Sorry, I would have put in some comments about the concert, but the post-concert so overshadowed the concert that I really don't remember the concert that well. Dave Wilson My favorite LIVE Yes 'moment' was at the 1977 Seattle concert supporting 'Going For The One'. Being a guitar player myself, I was going to watch every note Steve played. Howe-ever, I spent most of the evening watching Squire. I couldn't look away! This man is truly an incredible musician!! I was at the front of the stage (actually leaning on the retaining wall) and couldn't believe my eyes when during 'Awaken', Chris was singing the syncopated, counter-point harmony with Jon during the /star/song/ageless/awaken/gentle/mass/touch' section , while simultaneously playing that sliding/descending octaves bass part that Howe also plays on the guitar. And as if that were not musically challenging enough, he steps up to his bass pedals and rides down the low D/C/A drone notes right before Steve's solo. I came unglued! The man is an octopus!!! {NOTE: If you haven't heard all three things that Chris is doing here, listen to Awaken on the studio recording at 2:25 into the song}. |
