IANMC10 My first Yesshow. I was 13 yrs. old and sat in the 12th row in front of Wakeman and Squire. I loved Parallels to start the show! Steve Howe really rips that guitar during the end of the song. Awaken also was a masterpiece live. And You And I just amazing. Love watching Howe on the pedal steel guitar. I was hooked! SOUND CHASER NorCalJames, THIS SHOW WAS NOT "IN THE ROUND" 1978 & 1979 WAS "IN THE ROUND" Eddie Ah yes, the discovery of AWAKEN... Shing blue planet Amidst a storm of suns In the Infinite sea Eddie I was there! 17th row. The band was on fire. Steve was really on. This was the start of progressive art rock for me. I had just left punk. 1977! NorCalJames I *saw* this show with my best friend Billy (we guitar jammed constantly and later formed a band or two). The show was ~3 weeks before my 17th birthday. I had just bought my first serious electric which was a 1977/78 Gibson SG Standard. I was WAY into Yes, Genesis, Hendrix, the Beatles, Chicago blues, CSNY, Bowie and Doc !?! Watson at the time - a heady combination of influences to say the least. The concert was amazing! - in the round, the stage rotated and the lighting fantastic. The Roundabout encore was transformed as a vibrant boogie - quite aggressive. One cool note...around the same time, several art students from my high school snuck in during the weekend and airbrushed the famous Yes logo way up high on the side of a building above the quad on the high school grounds. We prog-rock fanatics were fucking flabbergasted when we saw the logo on Monday morning. Eric Iozzi I´ve listened to a bootleg of this show (almost the entire show). Well, the sound quality is really bad,but you can notice that Yes really rocks on All Good People like on no other official live album. I really love the set-list: >Firebird Suite >Parallels >I´ve Seen All Good People >Close To The Edge >Wonderous Stories >Colors Of The Rainbow >Turn Of The Century >Tour Song >And You And I >Going For The One >Flight Jam >Awaken >Rounabout Oh,what a night it must have been.. =D Yesfan1046 At the GftO tour in Long Beach Calif. A couple stood, sang and clapped throughout Donovan's set, as soon as Yes started playing they sat down motionless, by the time the band went into _Close to the Edge_ they left! |
