Rick Schulz Wednesday, December 7, 2016 5:12 PM Ok now I see why I was so sure before. This site lists the 1979 show at Cobo when it was Olympia. The ticket stub proves it. Thanks for the help High The Memory. Saw this on SetList today and had to post. Rick Schulz Wednesday, December 7, 2016 5:07 PM It was the 1979 show at Olympia I was at and not the 1978 show which got past me somehow. Rick Friday, October 18, 2013 3:23 PM I have had time to think about this and I know memory is very unreliable. Maybe they did not play CTTE. I have been wrong before and I will be wrong again I am sure. :-) Wurm They never did Close to The Edge in 1978. As truth is gathered, memories are re-areanged.... I have been thinking of this show a bit more since I posted my thoughts on it recently. I watched "Live In Philadelphia" the other day. Some of the video is quite clear and makes it look like you are watching them live. Anyway, I distinctly remember them playing Close To The Edge. I also remember at the end of Circus Of Heaven the lights turn on the audience and whirl around when Jon's son comments on the circus and everyone starts yelling just like in the video, except you only hear the crowd noise. I only saw them at Olympia and did not attend the Cobo show so I know I am not getting them mixed up. Had a clear head that night with no drink or smoke and the girl was a platonic friend so it was a YES only night for me. LOL If I can think of something else I will post it. Steve I remember Heart Of the Sunrise played after Siberian Khatru. It was the April show that Close To The Edge was played after SK. A great show made even better by the 4th row seats we sat in. HIGH THE MEMORY Rick, They did not play Close To The Edge at this show. They played it at the 4/21/79 Detroit show. Rick I remember being amazed that I was actually seeing them for real. This was my second concert ever. Paid $9.00 at the box office. They did play Close To The Edge and Opened with Siberian Khatru. Had a sound problem at the very beginning but it was fixed right away. Crowd reacted well to that. The girl I was with and me got suckered out of some money buy purchasing bootleged t-shirts before we went inside only to see the great ones later. Did buy a program. Great show. I remember Circus Of Heaven was played too. We sat in the nose bleed section which at Olympia was very steep. Not safe for todays standards. Chris did a version of the Fish but not as good as on Yessongs. It was in the round of course and I cant wait to see Jon back with them. |
