One of the greatest concerts I have ever seen. I sure miss Chris Squire.

I saw Yes at this show, and my brother Dan designed a button as well as a poster for the concert, for WLRS.
This was the band's fourth appearance in Louisville, I believe. I'd seen them once before at Freedom Hall, and at Louisville Gardens twice (on the "Close To The Edge" and "Relayer" tours).

They played at least one other time in Louisville in the 1970s, and that was on the Going for the One Tour in August 1977, at Freedom Hall during the State Fair. That one was my first time seeing them. What an awesome show! I was hooked. Saw them in Dayton 4/12/79 then had front row seats for this 4/13/79 Louisville show. Too bad the Pink Floyd/Yes thing fell through. A lot of local music fans thought WLRS 102's 102nd concert should have been something more than just an average Yes show,and they were probably right. The WLRS DJs were there, all decked out in tuxedos, handing out free "Programmes". Yes played in Lexington, KY, that June or July so we saw them three times that year.

i attended this show and i still have the concert button. it is silver with black letters and logos screened over it. i remember it as an ok concert and i think it was the only yes show i've ever seen. i don't remember them coming to louisville other than that show. also i vaguely remember some kind of controversy as you mentioned. but the out door stadium concerts we had in louisville (late 70's-early 80s) caused much.

Here's some trivia for you...the Tormato tour stop in Louisville on 4/13, 1979 was advertised as a "big surprise" by the local heavyweight rock station, WLRS-102 FM as Yes was the 102nd concert promoted by WLRS... they attempted to get Pink Floyd as a surprise band to make a double bill....that fell through and their last stop they tried to pull out was free beer for the sold out Freedom Hall crowd, but the promoter would not go with that due to liability and under-age drinking concerns....so the 102nd concert for WLRS turned out to be anti-climactic, just a normal Yes show that was POWERFUL....I need another fix of On the Silent Wings Of Freedom!

John Mock, still a great show! Yes in the round. All the LRS DJ's in black tuxes. Saw them 4 times and always amazed at their virtuosity and how Jon Anderson's voice was even more impressive live!
