Robert Lopaciuk Simply Magnificent! I'am 21 and it is the first time I've seen YES live in concert. They made an incredible impression on me. My father who had seen them on the Union Tour back in early 90-ties in Munich told me that they are getting better and better. The concert started with a significant "Close to the edge" (although I would prefer it to be the last song instead of "Roundabout"). It was an enormous show opener. After that everyone knew that it was going to be an unforgetable night. They continued the great show with "Long distance runaround" and "Don't go". But the best was still to come... The fourth piece was from the new album and is called "In the present of" - for me one of the best if not the best during the whole evening. Great guitar work with an orchestra in the background and unbelivable Jon Anderson played a masterpiece! A real cracker! "Gates of Delirium" lived up to everyone's expectations - crowd loved it. After that it was a time to take a rest for the whole band except from Steve Howe who made a solo on an acoustic guitar playing "Corkscrew" and "Mood For a Day". Everything would be perfect (Howe made a brilliant work) if the audience turned off the mobile phones before the concert!!! That was hopeless! After that - "Perpetual change" without orchestra. Again - played perfectly. It was followed by a stunning "Starship trooper" - my favourite along with "In the presence of". You can't describe it - you just have to exerience it on your own. The band at its very best! "And You and I" was played next and Jon was superb. "Ritual" was followed by a standing ovation - and it deserved it as it was played incredibly well (especially Alan's solo). During "I've seen all good people" everyone was clapping. It was almost the end - the audience started to leave as the band didn't turn up for a bonus. But finally they did with "Roundabout". It was a a one in a lifetime night. Jon, Steve, Chris, Alan , a young keyboard player and a polish orchestra were simply amazing. Hopefully it is not their last Tour. I hope to see them again soon! By the way - If you doubt whether to go on the show - don't hesitate. You won't regret it. It's worth all the money! |
