zolias Sunday, June 9, 2024 5:51 AM Capacity : 13.500. Ken O'Farrell I attended this concert as well; sat near the front row behind home plate. During the first or second song, the sound system failed for about thirty seconds; the band kept playing right through the failure. I don't know what they were listening to; however, when the system became operational again, the band hadn't missed a beat. That was very impressive! Anderson's vocals were truly unique and outstanding. And until that night, I didn't realize Roundabout was a Rock-n-role tune. The band kicked into high gear with that song! Bruce My friend Eric and I bought tickets in advance. We always camped out for tickets but, for some reason we bought in advance. We went around 12- 1:00 in the afternoon so we could be first in line when they open the gates. The show was to start at 7:30 pm. Well, we arrived at the stadium. There were around maybe 20 people already there. I said to my friend "let's go get our spot at the entrance by the turnstiles". We did just that and were the first ones there. After a minute or so I said " hey look, there's no one attending the turnstiles, we could probably just wakk right in". Before we knew it we were in the stadium. The stage was set up behind second base and the only people around were the roadies and the lighting crew. We walked down towards the stage then around to the back side and there they were!!! Food, Beer & Wine galore and Yes playing soccer. We joind in for a while then got a bit nervous thinking we would be found out then thrown out so we went around to the front of the stage. Rick Wakeman was doing a sound check at the time. We sat down on the pitchers mound and exchanged jokes with him till he was done.We then started talking to a couple of lighting guys who asked us to go back out on the street to get them cigarettes and beer. They said they would put us on a list so we could get back in. We thought it would be a good idea to sell our tickets while we were outside as we were now on The List and would have no trouble getting back in. WRONG!!! We got the cigs & beer and tried too re-enter through a side gate only to be met by a couple huge security guys who had no list and didn't beleive our true story. More people came by and were also trying to talk their way in. We tried climbing the wall only to be met by more security that tossed us back outside the gate. Finally one older security man let us back in. By that time the main gates had been opened and people were pouring in. We wound up in the front center and saw one of the, if not the best shows ever. |
