I remember attending show in a stone cold sober state and they seemingly levitated the roof of the arena during Starship Trooper. Yes back from the dead and amazing.

Back from the dead!!!

What a wonderful surprise for a Yes fan saddened by what surely felt like the final break up of the band after Drama. Nothing could take away the great music from TYA to Drama, and I had been trying to focus more on the the other bands I love, who were coming out with new music at this time....(Heart/Rush/Asia/Queen, etc.). But something was truly missing from my musical life. Yes, had taken up the void left in the wake of the Beatles in my life, and now with no Yes, there was another void.

When I heard Owner of a Lonely Heart on the radio for the first time, I was in my living room listening to the radio with my wife. I somehow knew that it was at least Yes related before any singing occurred. When I heard Jon's voice sing "Move yourself.....", I somehow immediately realized that my lost Yes had somehow managed to get back together again. And Jon was back!!!! Because of the sound of Asia and such, as a matter of fact, I wasn't even aware that it wasn't Howe I was hearing, until I went and bought the single of the song. Turned out to be a new guitarist, and when the whole album came out, I realized it was an entire new direction for the band. Yes for the 1980's. In fact, I had friends who became fans because of the new music. So, when I hear Rabin detractor's, they bum me out. I guess I'm what's referred to as a "YesWhole", enjoying the band's full catalog to some degree or another. So....not only was our band back, but they were POPULAR again. Maybe even as poplular as 1976! AND they were trend setting. Creating the bar for 80's music in general.

The concert, (my 7th Yes show) was the most exciting and memorable since my first show, (Relayer). The energy level, the lasers, the rock. The new handling of the classic material. Kaye being back in the mix. Jon being back in the mix, and perhaps most of all, the incredible interaction of Jon, Chris and Steve on stage. This was one for the ages. I had friends with me who were seeing their first show.

Major highlights for me were Heart of the Sunrise, It Can Happen, Starship Trooper and most of all, Hearts - which on this stop was immaculate.

They had cancelled their first Meadowlands show, and this was a make up show. The wait made it even more special if that was possible.

I wouldn't be blown away like this again until probably the Union Tour.

But this night, this band, this set-list, and this performance were spotless, and amazing.

"And You and I" was ass kicking. Chris' harmonica was the icing on a totally awesome cake.
