This was my first Yes show. I was very pleased to hear my favorite band play Heart of the Sunrise, as well as And You And I. At the time I was certain that this new Yes had put the classics away for good due to the new sound that had made them newly famous. I do need to comment about the setlist: They did not perform Yours Is No Disgrace or Love Will Find A Way. This is something I strongly remember because a bunch of us after the show discussed how we thought it was strange that they did not perform the song that they released from the new album (Love Will Find A Way). In addition, Yours Is No Disgrace is one of my favorite Yes tunes and I specifically remember thinking “Wow…no Yours Is No Disgrace??” And I was SOBER! As I mentioned above, And You And I and Heart of the Sunrise made up for any other disappointments.

This was my very 1st concert, at the age of 15. My Uncle Billy won tickets and, for some reason, decided to bring me. The seats were great center ice mid-level hockey seats, so pretty good concert seats. I was unfamiliar with anything Yes besides the 90125/Big Generator stuff from the radio, but I did recognize ISAGP. I was immediately impressed by the lights. And by Jon...constantly striking prayer-like poses and generally behaving esoterically, not to mention the bit of facepaint he wore.I remember being quite impressed with Trevor's 12-string solo, being myself a neophyte guitarist. And after HotS, I asked my Uncle how many songs they had played so far, and I remember being stunned. I remember some sort of ball that inflated on the stage upon which obscure images were projected, during I believe Holy Lamb (how I would love to hear this live again!) I don't remember much else, except perhaps those strange pungent smells which drifted by occasionally - perhaps the real reason I so thouroughly enjoyed the show. But in the end, I remember being completely amazed, and fell eternally in love with live music. I was "high" for days and can remember thinking about what I saw for some time. Yes really did move me, and changed my life back there in 1987. I later "repaid" my Uncle nearly 10 years later by bringing him to the also incredible 10/21/97 show at the Palace in Albany.
