Trever got sick, so they dropped Roundabout. Shoot High, Aim Low was the loudest song I ever heard in concert. I thought the wall were going to crack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first(and, sadly, only)YES concert was at the USF Sundome in Tampa, FLA., on Jan. 23, 1988. I was barely 18 and what a thrill it was to see one of my favorite bands work their magic! The show was excellent(as one might expect from YES)and there were no disappointments except for one at the end of the concert, which I''ll get to in a minute.
I was able to go to this show only because a friend of mine bowed out at the last minute, asking me if I wanted to take his place. It was an opportunity of a lifetime so I jumped at the chance! I ended up riding with a couple of people I didn''t know(my friend''s friends), but so what! I was going to see YES! I was a fairly new YES fan only familiar with 90125 and, obviously, BIG GENERATOR & select older songs(I''ve Seen All Good People, Roundabout, etc.).
I think it was mostly Trevor Rabin''s style that drew me to the band so he was the one I was watching the most, being an aspiring young musician myself! Unfortunately, though, Trevor became a casulty of the Rock ''N'' Roll tour schedule: at the end of this otherwise fantastic evening, after their first encore, Jon Anderson came back on stage and told everyone Trevor had collapsed backstage from the flu! Poor guy! He had given an excellent show and one would never have known he was sick! What a (Starship)Trooper! Alas, thousands were disappointed, not getting to hear the final encore with "Roundabout!" Bummer! I didn''t believe it at first, but the next day on the radio it was confirmed.
Oh well, at least I got to see one of my favorite bands play live. The show was a magical one with the band playing tight. During a quieter part of the show(I think "Holy Lamb"), I heard a female fan shout out "Jon!" and I got this feeling she had been a fan for a long time and had most likely seen the band many years before. I dunno. Maybe some of Jon Anderson''s "cosmic energy" was rubbing off on me!
Anyway, I''m glad I got to see YES perform live as they were then, and are now, one of my favorites! Good show, guys! Thanks!

According to an article from the Atlanta Journal on 02/12/88, the band had to cancel six concerts after Rabin collapsed backstage at the end of a concert January 23 in Tampa, Florida. Doctors immediately prescribed rest for Rabin, who had exhausted himself by performing five times with the flu and a 103-degree fever. The band spent the next ten days in Miami waiting for Rabin to recover.
