Dan Summers Having just gotten into Yes in late 1991, I just missed seeing them on the Union tour(kicks self). Therefore, the next chance to see them came in 1994 and this time I took it. Victory Records did little in the way of promotion, so the audience turn out was less than it should have been. However, I enjoyed the show a lot. Me and my brother originally had lawn tickets, but when we entered the ampitheater we were offered the chance to switch our lawn tickets for two seats. We were too far back, though - had we arrived a little later we might have gotten closer. I think a lot of people at the show had no idea who would be in the band. I overheard a father who was there with his kids say, something to the effect of, 'Watch the keyboard player. He's a really good and popular player.' I have a feeling he may have been referring to Rick Wakeman, who was not at this show. Billy Sherwood made his stage debut with Yes here, although he would not become a full-time member until 1997. All in all, I really liked the Talk album and the live show that went with it. Peter Guilhamet I saw several posts about folks being so disappointed with the Letterman appearance that they may not go to see YES play when they come to their town )-: I didn't catch the Letterman thing, so I don't know why you are all so bummed (it must have sucked), but I did catch the real thing last Friday at Shoreline. It was GREAT !!! Go see them play live, they seem to be getting into a groove, hitting stride in mid-tour. Same set list as posted, but I was so moved by the experience that I am shooting down to LA for Yestival and another show this weekend. Turnout for the shows has been poor (half-full or less at Concord and Shoreline), so the chances of seeing this happen again are slim at best. Go to the show and bring your friends (I brought 5 "virgins" to the show and they were awed and rejuvenated by the performance). The lights are cool, it looks like the band is playing from within a big multi-colored gem. p.s. Endless Dream is excellent played live |
