I remember seeing this show and it was the first time I had the chance to see Yes. I had the opportunity to meet Bill Bruford at the PASIC convention in 93 in Columbus OH and take a master class with Alan White in Columbus OH previous to this concert.

I was very excited and skipped stats class to see this show. A half dozen music majors from WLSC went together. All YES nuts. I remember it was late Summer and the weather was great.

I remember Chris Squire wearing this very large white karate robe style shirt tucked into black pants. He was also wearing pirate boots. We joked about that the entire way home.

In the encore Trevor began to play Love Will Find A Way and then broke into Roundabout.

People in my section were very impressed with the song Talk and I thought it sounded great, especially when they sang the last part of the song.

I was glad I was able to see this version of YES and it was an impressive show.

About the Burgettstown show (this was really the Pittsburgh show; Burgettstown is where Star Lake amphitheater is located, about 10 miles from Pittsburgh): that Heart of the Sunrise "Planet Zongo" bit has somehow become a "legendary" demonstration of Jon's. . .um. . . weirdness. It was all over the discussion list, the headlines reading something like : FINAL PROOF: JON HAS LOST IT. This sticks out in my mind (& heart) since Pittsburgh is my home!

Something you could only have seen if you were sitting on the "grass" area, way behind the main seating, were very close-up views of Jon's face as he was telling his "Zongo" story. His expression was one of genuine bemusement, almost a smirk. In other words, that story was entirely tongue in cheek. (There are giant video screens that show close-ups of the "stage action" for the benefit of those so far back. People in the regular seats would have no way of seeing his face. .. ironically 8-)

The show was verrrry disappointing to anyone who has seen Yes before. I nearly left early.

Let me tell you the sky that night behind them looked like a Roger Dean album cover it was amazing as the sun set. Purple, Blue, Red, simply beautiful. I still have the newspaper review which they obviously commented on that as well so I wasn't out of my head.

I saw the Pittsburgh show, and Tony does look like he's on a bucking bronco. However, I don't know which of Tony and Trevor are better. CERTAINLY, Trevor is more daring. BUT, Trevor's playing was extremely uneven. His fast arpeggiated chords had a lilt (unevenness) that shouldn't have been there (the schmaltz was something else). I also agree that a band of Yes' caliber shouldn't be held back by a one-armed bandit who could be replaced by ANY two-bit studio musician. It's not like he adds the charisma of the show really. I think he belittles the intensity of their music.
