In 1991 i saw this show on brazilian tv. I was 18 years old and was enchanted by YES .
I recorded the show on my Sanyo VHS VCR and watched it thousands of times since then. :)

I watched this whole show on YouTube. "Yours Is No Disgrace" is five minutes longer and contains a great solo by Trevor Rabin. His guitar solo, "Solly's Beard", was also great. I also enjoyed the little duet that he and Rick Wakeman did. Wakeman looked like he was enjoying "Rhythm of Love". The songs "Shock To The System" and "Lift Me Up" sounded fuller than on Union because all eight musicians played. The drum duet between Bill Bruford and Alan White contained parts of "Mind Drive" and possibly "Ritual". Between the duet and "Hold On", there was a piece of music that the band rehearses on the YesYears video. On "Whitefish", there was no part of "Sound Chaser". I did like how Jon sang on "Amazing Grace". The climax of the show was "Awaken" (which is shown as a snippett on YesYears along with "Shock To The System").

Much of this show was screened as a TV broadcast, entitled "Round the World in 80 Dates'. It's amazing to see the awesome 8-piece line-up of Yes playing on the revolving stage -- and the performance is spectacular. Hopefully one day this concert footage will be released officially as a definitive DVD document of the remarkable 'Unon' tour!

Went with my good bud from college, Fred, to the show a bit worried since Union and Lift Me Up (which was getting some airplay) were disappointing. I thought Shock to the System was one of the better songs on Union, so when they played it I was thrilled. What I remember most, ironically, is that the band seemed to be having a lot of fun. Lots of energy coming from them to the audience. Left very pleased that they avoided most of the Union album.

Jon made another song announcement not listed below. He said something to the effect prior to LDR, "Many years ago...Rick, Steve, Bill, Chris and I were in the studio...(strumming the guitar), when we came up with this song."

While fun and entertaining, this show lacked the larger-than-life quality of the '79 in-the-round tour. The crowd was also rather small--10,000 according to the Denver Post. "Heart of the Sunrise" and "Awaken" were incredible.

I remember reading a blurb in USA Today about a week before the 'Union' album came out - I was under the distinct impression that the eight members would be playing TOGETHER on the album. I remember hearing 'Lift Me Up' on the radio within a few days of that article, and thinking 'this is all eight guys?'

Needless to say, I was very disappointed to read the liner notes of the album upon my purchase - especially by all of the sidemen listed...I remember thinking, 'why does Rick Wakeman need SIDEMAN to play his keyboard parts?' I was young (20) and naive.

All that said, this concert - the second of seven Yesshows I've seen so far since 1988 - is easily my favorite. Despite some negative comments I've read, this was truly the most inspired tour this group has ever done. If the setlist was perhaps a bit too predictable, if the solos were all a bit too overblown, none of that matters - this was an opportunity to see two of favorite guitar players, on the same stage, playing together. The performance of 'Yours Is No Disgrace,' with Steve's elegance solo melting into Trevor's aural assault was worth the price of admission all by itself. The opportunity to see the band in the round, to see Rick Wakeman (the only time I've ever seen Rick, with or without Yes), the opportunity to hear 'Mood for a Day' AND 'Clap' live at a Yes concert - it's funny to think that, in 1991, that would be seen as a rare treat! Who'd have ever thought that Steve Howe would be back in Yes?

I have heard a recording of this show, yet, I remember hearing Steve play the 'Leaves of Green' section of 'The Ancient,' though it's not on the recording. Perhaps my mind is playing tricks on me, but, I'd almost swear that he played parts of 'Mood for a Day,' 'Clap' AND 'Leaves of Green.'

A few weeks later (or so it seemed), we got to see the performance of 'Shock to the System' from this show on some MTV program. That remains the only listenable song on that album to me.

A Yes "Union" tour concert video was aired on Canadian television tonight and I gots me a pristine copy of this thing.

*Great* video too. Too bad Kaye, White, Squire and Rabin had to be in it. :) I figure everyone would want to know the deal on the new Yes Onion video, so here it is.

It's called "Round The World In 80 Dates" and runs 90 minutes. The specific concert location and date is not mentioned.

It's got the bulk of the show, but none of the solos, Awaken, Rhythm Of Love (oh darn!) or Hold On (double darn it all to heck!) made it to the final edit.

It's a great video. Chris Squire is there in all of his obese glory, double chin flailing away as he strains to stand up for the duration of the show, Bill Bruford taps away every 10 minutes or so on his electronic kit as Alan White plays like all acoustic drums will disappear off the face of the earth immediately after the gig. Trevor Rabin flops about doing his best Slash impersonation, leather tights, open shirt, tassled boots and all, while Tony "The Sound Of One Hand Playing" Kaye (I wonder what he does with his other hand during the shows?) is going nuts tapping the one key that activates his sequencer...

Whoa!!!! Holy negativity Batman! Whip out the Bat-Yes-Union-Skeptic-scab-Yes-hater antidote!

I'm sure all of those who think the Onion tour was a good idea will like this video. The performances are overall quite good. Heart Of The Sunrise shines, especially since it's the one tune where Bruford handles all of the drum chores. Wakeman's solo on Owner Of A Lonely Heart is great as well.

I hadn't heard of this concert video until it aired tonight. I don't know if it will be released on home video, but I assume it will someday. Then again, who cares anyway?
