According to Jon Anderson (Rockline, 2004), it was at this gig - at Cardiff University - that a support group played a cover version of Paul Simon's 'America' (in the same style as the original). Jon turned to the guys and said, "we should do a different version of this song" and Peter banks suggested adding the chords from the 'West Side Story' song of the same name. And so Yes' classic version of 'America' was born, it progressed further when Steve Howe joined the group and added his 'Southern Solo'.
