mike fraser stunning, cosmic, etc etc....... starship trooper was well and truly nailed - chris on top form. and gates of delerium and ritual as well............. Dave Lythgoe Absolutely stunning! I have seen Yes many times but I feel in terms of overall performance this may well be the best one. To finally hear 'Gates' live was simply marvellous. I sat there totally spellbound as the song unravelled itself and when Steve played the slide guitar 'fanfare' and then went into 'Soon' I just broke down and cried. Beautiful. Nights like this don't come along too often. Jay Amazing, brilliant, stunning, moving. Only one downside the goon sat in front of us who insisted on talking and talking especially when Jon was talking between numbers. I noticed he came away with a drum stick at the end, you'll never make a drummer mate you like the sound of your own voice too much. Anyway, here's hoping we don't have to wait too long for another tour, they are a breath of fresh air after having too put up with pop idols and boy bands that my daughters play all day long. Bud Baird WOW! That is all I can say right now, as I have just got back from Manchester. We were treated with the works tonight! I was surprised at how clear the orchestra could be heard, and I do agree that for once Chris Squire seemed a bit buried in the mix. I feel that the song that benefitted from the Orchestra the most was And You and I - it sounded majestic to behold - I had goosebumps down my spine!!! Yes, we got Gates - thanks to a guy called Terry Higgenbottom. This guy, Jon told us, had written to him to express his disappointment at Gates being omitted last time round - so Jon dedicated it to him! Thank you Terry Higgenbottom whoever you are! I was a person who voted against the orchestra - but I will happily eat my words at this moment! Jon's brother was there tonight (I think he lives in Manchester) and he (Jon) seemed to be very happy on the stage. Chris had an intense, mischievous look on his face throughout and he played off the crowd during Ritual. Jon forgot the words at the beginning of Close to the Edge - but apologised in between songs. All in all worth every penny and in honesty my thoughts go out to those fans who were denied Gates as this was ABSOLUTELY spectacular. |
