Hey ... I don't know if it was my location the Venue or what, but Yes was so spot on tonight, they are in the grove, (is it the B- 12?) Starship Trooper closed the encore which included the truncated Roundabout, but what a great show. I enjoyed this more than the summer, and tonight's Close to Edge was good, and emotionally uplifting. I have never been so moved by a live rendition. (Wakeman is the difference). Squire is moving around like mad man, Steve Howe even gave us a kick and smiles!
The Performing Arts Center is a Fabulous venue for a return trip to the area. The crowd was in a great mood, and having fun. (Carry over from the Philly shows?)

This time around really highlights the difference Wakeman makes in the band. His feel for the music, his showmanship, his demeanor wearing the sparking coat and all that, he really is *the* keyboard player for this band.

One thought I have, Jon's solo song is really something, magical really... It has that feel ...ya know?..with all this good feeling in the band and hearing Jon’s tune, I really hope they are writing some stuff now. I feel they could really put out some inspiring stuff.

By the way I loved Porcupine Tree. Very impressed. Surprised really, they sound pretty fresh. I will buy a CD soon!

Man what a show! After a somewhat dissapointing show at the PNC Bank Arts Center, (bad seats, bad sound in the back and a few bad people back there as well), I knew I needed to give this tour another chance. I'm very glad I did! This show was a killer - one of the best of the 27 times I've seen them. I remarked to my wonderful wife during the show that I was happy! And I truly was. I almost had tears in my eyes a couple of times. The show was a smoker! I even enjoyed hearing Roundabout for the 27th time! Even the solo's were great. I know that most people are focused on Mr. Squire during Whitefish, but I couldn't help but become mezmerized by Mr. White's driving beat. I always loved Alan's playing, and he didn't dissapoint. Everyone in the band was on top of their game. And the NJPAC is a great place for a Yes concert. One of the nicest places I've ever been in.
It's so cool that these guys still have the chops to keep these songs fresh and vibrant. Who knows how long they'll be around. Let's enjopy it while we can.
One other thing, I'll admit that I got on the "Rick who?" bandwagon a couple of years back. I thought that Igor was a good replacement, but after this show I'm now ready to say that I was wrong. Rick Wakeman is as vital a part of Yes as anyone, and Igor was just a pretty good substitute. Welcome back Rick, to where you belong.

Monsieur Oui

J'ai un temps excellent ce soir a la concerte "Oui". J'essaye employer un peu d'Englais avec mon Francais...

C'est une concerte tres tres bien, despitee un band de chaud ("L'Arbre de Porcupine") qui est tres "lame". Ils sont aime "Pink Floyd" joiner avec "Radiohead" joiner avec "je suis alienated, disaffected, et pas d'comprende (misunderstood)", complete avec "disturbing images de visual." Pas de melody. Plus de volume. Plus de distortion. Plus de repetition. Que donne? C'est un combination "lethal" pour mon ears. Tres lame. "L'Arbre de Porcupine" ne vas pas avec "Oui"! Quelle dommage... ou je dite: Quelle Frommage!!! ;)

Mais...

Le band "Oui" est tres formidable. Monsieurs Wakeman, Squire, Howe, Anderson, et Blanche est a la peak du game. Ils playent pour deux et un half hours avec deux encores! Une concerte complete et avec un band chaud. Ils premierent a 8:30, et finis a 11:00. Pas de breaks aussi! Ils vont continuousment! C'est amazing quand un considere qu'ils sont sixty annes ancient!

Les temps de peak:

1. Monsieur Wakeman performe "Six Dames de Henri VIII." C'est plus bien que la concerte d'ete quand il performe les versiones de "Musak" de "Les Stories Wonderous" et "Et Vous et Je".

2. "Oui" performent "Close a L'Edge" avec Monsieur Wakeman. C'est vraiment "special", et un suprise grand.

3. Monsieurs Squire et Howe performe et performe et performe. Monsieur Squire est un "ham" tres grand! Et il est plus grand d'ete!! C'est un grand "teddy bear" tres formidable.

Le venue de la concerte est tres "beautiful" aussi. Je surprisee parce qu'il est en Newark, a.k.a. "L'armpit Des Etats Unis." Mais, le section petit de la ville est "gentrified". L'hall de concerte vraiment est une bonne venue pour un show. Je desire que "Oui" returne pour une autre concerte ici.

La verdicte:
Oui: Oui.
L'Arbre de Porcupine: Non.

Tom......Amazing!!!!!

Just got home from the show at NJPAC. Acoustics in this venue are outstanding. The place holds about 2,500 people and every seat was taken. Much better sound than the PNC show last summer.

The show was amazing, from Siberian to Trooper. After establishing their tempo about a third of the way through Siberian, the volume kicked in and the rest of the show was tremendous. CTTE was a definite highlight, as was Awaken. SSotS was performed exceptionally well, with an extended Howe/Wakeman duel at the end.

The band was into very much, as the audience erupted into standing ovations for each song.

Here are a couple of surprises. The first was Rick reverting back to Six Wives for his solo. It reminded me of his solos in the late 70s. When Steve did his solo, he played Mood For A Day with his Ancient excerpt integrated into the middle. Jon did not accompany because he said he didn't know which songs Steve was going to perform. Steve's work on his acoustic guitar has never sounded better.

Chris brought the house down with Fish, Tempus Fugit, and On The Silent Wings Of Freedom. He continues to set the standard by which all bass players are measured. Alan played exceptionally well.

As soon as the next NY/NJ/PA shows are announced, I'm getting tickets.
