Kansas opened and sounded well..Icarus II a new song from them about a doomed WWII pilot went down flawlessly....They just played the crowd favorites, nothing too deep.
I knew the set list and heard Igor play Revealing Science back in 97, but was anxious to see how he could handle playing The Gates and Ritual.....High energy from Steve and Jon was intense as he sang the songs that obviously has a deep meaning for him. Heart Of The Sunrise, even though I've heard it over and over sounded the best yet, Squire flat out nailed it...Great concert, looking forward to Masterworks II

seats: section 102, row J. good seats, but not as good as the first time I saw Yes (row C). I could see clearly, except when the guy in front of me's head was blocking my view.

people: mostly well-behaved, except people were almost constantly going to/from their seats.

Kansas: muddy sound. maybe if they'd turned their instruments down a little bit... the footloose keyboard player was the most entertaining part of their set. the set was the obligatory radio hits and some good-sounding stuff I'd never heard.

Yes: good as ever. their sound was a lot better than Kansas', although Steve seemed a little low. I have two gripes about the setlist:

1. only two epics, please. three epics make the set drag on too much.

2. uh, can we have something from after 1974, please? if no Rabin-era stuff, at least something from "Going for the One", or maybe a couple "Ladder" tracks?

I think the highlight of the show was Ritual. Chris has certainly returned to form, and the percussion ensemble in the middle was incredible.

Hi there;

Great show, made the wind & rain almost bearable. My friend saw the show in Northern VA on Sunday and said that attendance was very low, so I expected a similar turnout here, especially given the unfavorable weather conditions. To my surprise, the show was very full, with only the lawn being sparsely filled.

Kansas was not as bad as I'd been led to believe (same friend again); I enjoy a few tunes off of their new CD, and found the material enjoyable live. The vocals aren't what they used to be, and a few of the solos were shaky in places, but for the most part they put on a good show with high energy.

Yes was of course very good. This is my 5th Yes show since the '94 Talk tour, and probably one of my two favorites. It was a treat to hear some older songs not played very frequently (to make an understatement, I know I know...), although I would've preferred some of the newer longer material such as the stuff on KTA1+2.

Boy, Igor sure is a hoot to watch. Aside from being a monstrous player, he has great stage presence and (for lack of a better term) charm. I hope they keep him around for as long as possible.

Other high points:

- Starship Troopers felt particularly strong during this performance.

- The percussion during Ritual was tres cool.

- Soon was much better than when I heard it on the OYE tour.

- The church organ bits in Close To The Edge were nice and strong, and my girlfriend got quite a kick out of how well I knew when to 'conduct' the accents ;-)

- Yeah, they nailed it in Heart of the Sunrise.

- This is the first time I've seen Yes where they haven't played Owner of a Lonely Heart. I suppose it won't last, but I'm enjoying it's absence while I can ;-)

Low points:

- The weather sucked like a brand new vacuum cleaner. With a fresh bag even.

- It continues to perplex me as to why people spend money to see a concert, then spend the duration talking over the music about work, politics, anything BUT the concert.

- Squire's bass was very strong during Starship Trooper, and I think he may have played over / drowned out Igor's keyboard solo near the end.

- Have I mentioned the suck-o weather recently?

Overall, a good show, hope it's not their last tour.
