zolias Saturday, May 25, 2024 2:15 PM Arena : 5000 seats. Bart Grooms My first show as well; I was 19. My impression was that after having been hugely popular but not having had their usual airplay with Relayer, the band was working their way back up the circuit playing somewhat smaller halls. I loved the spacy stage design, and noticed that far from being just a stand-up vocalist, Anderson played an instrument on almost every song (a second bass on "Hold Out Your Hand"--I thought that was cool). I also remember reading Squire's lips saying "I'm having a great time!" to Howe or Anderson during a song. I was impressed at how accurately they pulled off even really difficult material like "Sound Chaser". I'd love to hear a recording of this show. Nori Kelley This was my first live Yes show. Being fresh out of high school and going with several friends, it was a night I'll never forget. I was able to get right up to the stage standing between Steve and Jon, and my friend Paul got some wonderful photos. I had a small cheap cassette recorder as well, and recorded the show, but the tape got lost within a few years. The quality was horrible anyway...It's great to see the setlist here - I couldn't quite recall it from memory. I do remember being blown away by Gates Of Delirium, and surprised by the acoustic Long Distance Runaround by Jon and Chris. |
