Just coming home to Berlin from Braunschweig – it was worth the trip. The Stadthalle Braunschweig is a very serious location (a typical „Stadthalle“- City Hall) , and the sound was anything bur perfect (here I do absolutely not agree with my forespeaker), but the show was great.
This was the 10th time I´ve seen the guys (starting in ´74) and the first time without Jon.
I miss Jon soooooo much, and besides being a YES fan I have always been a great Jon Anderson fan and will always be. But I must admit that Benoit David is a great singer and frontman. Besides his high voice he has nothing in common with Jon, and I really enjoyed him performing the songs, thank you, Benoit, I loved it!!!
I was a bit disappointed by Oliver Wakeman, he didn´t seem to have fun. Maybe he had just a bad day, knowing some of his work I´m shure he can do better.
Well, what can I say about the rest? A simple, beautiful and very aesthetic stage design, and the band seemed to play pretty well together. My absolute favorites were „Machine Messiah“ and „South Side Of The Sky“, where the band was at her best.
Can´t wait to see them next time, whoever is on board!

I am just blown away by the gig I saw last night. The last time I saw YES was in 1977, New Bingley Hall, Stafford, UK, on the "Going For The One "Tour. I am now based in Hannover, Germany and when I saw YES were playing "Just down the road" I just had to go !!! The "Stadthalle" is not a big hall...maybe 2000 people, and I guess this is what it must have been like in the early '70's when YES were touring Europe, playing simular sized venues. It was the perfect place to see YES perform. We had 7th row seats, right in the centre..couldn't have been better. The vibe was amazing..the audience and band just grooved..it was a party, a celebration ! Steve Howe's fingers just flew, and Chris Squire's "bass bombs" just about blew the roof off ! Highlights too many to mention, but "Heart of the Sunrise", "Roundabout", "And You and I" were outstanding. I would had loved to have heard something from "Going For The One",but the set list was really great. These guys played for 2 and a half hours !!! Great stage design and lighting too ! The energy was fantastic as the musicians celebrated their craft. Come back soon YES !
