Fantastic Yes concert last night.
Having seen Yes about 10 times (though i first saw them on the ABWH tour in Cph in 89) my expectations was, if not low, then a bit like...well can the new guys handle the job. Oh my, they did!;-) Amazing how Benoit David can handle the singing perfectly. All the respect to Jon A but being around 60, means that the high notes can be rather hard to reach - Collins proved that, meaning a few songs had to be transposed. But both Benoit and Squire did reach those high notes without any trouble at all. I did miss Andersons personality and some of his weirdness though;-)
Being a Yes-fan and wanting to see them live, means traveling a lot. Me and my friends have seen them severel times in Germany and a few in London. The whole proces of building up already on our way to the airport, is something special that sort of lacks when seeing them in our own backyard. With that in mind, I wasn´t that tense and exited like i used to be prior to a consert. But saying hi to Steve Hackett before the show ( and thanking him for the fantastic concert in Hamburg in Oct ) generated a high level of exitement and realy started me;-) When The Firebird Suite kicked off it was just like being in any venue in Germany or England;-) In this case, in my hometown, all of my prog-friends were present;-)
The show went perfectly and was delivered with a fantastic energy. Great set, great musicianship and a fantastic atmusphere that made it hard to leave Amager Bio after the show.
Hope to see Yes soon again - in Denmark or anywhere for that matter;-)
A sold out Amager Bio realy says it all, you guys are very welcome in Copenhagen on future tours.

Pampered YES fans will note the absence of Jon Anderson no doubt, but then again, YES was never a cowardly band, and certainly not miserly. Benoit David has more courage than anyone can imagine. At any rate, last night's concert was my fifth Yes concert, and I do tend to forget what a fantastic band this is. Never mind the poor sound or the occasional missed note, it doesn't matter. The energy, the joy and the musicianship is second to none. Great to hear some songs I haven't heard live before too. The acid test for this band will be a new album. If Benoit and Oliver can contribute to new Yes songs, I will believe in Rick Wakeman's 'Yes is like an egg' theory : ). I also thoroughly enjoyed a crowd of younger people than me (in this context, my age is tender at 39). There is hope as long as there is Yes.

that Messrs Squire and Howe are teaching other people to play the way they do - utterly awesome musicianship. Did no-one tell Chris that the bass isn't normally a lead guitar! Yes, it was a great evening which fulfilled a long held ambition for me - seeing Yes live, something I've failed to do for 31 years. Alan does seem tired (as others have said) and looks like he needs a break, Benoit is GREAT (and I'm a diehard JA fan) whilst Oliver is a competent support but not the virtuoso. At times it looks like 3 grandfathers playing with two kids - especially the sepulchral Steve who frankly would scare the bejesus out of you on a dark night. A wonderful evening, you have something to look forward Sweden!

A fantastic concert on a rainy day in Denmark. The setlist was as stated with "Starship Trooper" as encore. Steve Howe played "Mood for a day/Clap" as his solo performance. I don't hope I shall wait 32 years until the next concert in Denmark :-).
