George K. Friday, December 1, 2017 11:19 AM This was a great night, my first Yes concert and the place was as said earlier, acoustically great. Not a huge Eagle fan, but when I tell people that I saw them as the opening act, they're floored. The Andy Frain guy above was walking around the small venue passing ash trays down the aisle to have people put out their "smokes" on them. The Whitehead Friday, January 2, 2015 6:48 PM That was the longest night of my life. I was working as an Andy Frain usher. I was supposed to work Sox Park that night but when I got to Comiskey Park I realized I had forgotten my black dress shoes. Pete FRain told me to go home and give him a call when I got there. When I did he told me to report to Arie Crown instead. It was Yes; okay musically, but do you really need to hear elevator music live? And even worse, the Eagles were the warm up band. As Dude Lebowski said, " Come on, man. I had a rough night and I hate the fuckin' Eagles, man!" Chuck S. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 7:08 PM September 22, 1972: Yes with The Eagles, Arie Crown Theater, Chicago - it was a wonderful show! Arie Crown is nearly acoustically perfect, and this was their Close To The Edge tour after Bruford left. The "unknown" Eagles were warmly received, and significant songs included their hits "Take It Easy" and "Witchy Woman." After their performance, Eagles introduced "our friends, The Yes!" (some folks used to call them that back in the day). The highlight of the Yes performance was the entire "Close to the Edge" album, which was sublime! Squire was young, thin and all over the stage, wearing his thigh-length suede boots...he would play bass, tap on bass pedals AND sing simultaneously! Wakeman was amazing, Howe was on-the-money and Anderson was magical. White played drums. Peter Piraino The Eagles were the opening act. |
