This show really turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Obviously Jon isn't on stage and I was a bit hesitant to attend the show. However I would feel guilty if YES came through Chicago and I didn't see them. Benoit does an above average job filling in. You've got to give the guy credit. His mike levels were a bit low in the mix but I blame the sound problems on the HOB. Alan still has it. Real drummers don't seem to be around much anymore so it is refreshing to see one live. Steve? Incredible. Chris? The master who truly keeps the YES torch alight. I really noticed those two picking up the slack for Oliver. He just doesn't seem to have the chops of his old man. His keyboard work seemed sluggish and he too didn't get much respect from HOB soundboard. Overall I'd rate the show an A-. I would give it a solid A if it weren't for the HOB sound people screwing things up but that's not YES's fault. Just because Jon isn't there shouldn't hinder people from attending. It may take a bit to get used to but the soul of YES is still alive and well. They'll be back and I look forward to it. Yes said it themselves: "And to know that tempo will continue......."

I have seen yes countless times thru all the line-ups since 1977...I saw this lineup in myrtle beach I was not too impressed with the whole Benoit David scene, as I am a big JA fan...but this time I thought they were much better...maybe it was just me getting used to it wasn't JA up there, but Benoit, sounded alot better this time, and seemed much more relaxed...Steve was great, as was chris and alan..I thought Benoit and Oliver could have been a little louder in the mix...the show highlites (for me) were yours is no disgrce (steve tore it up) and hots...of course I was standing right next to the idiots guzzeling beer ..the guy in the white and red shirt almost hit me in the face several times with his arm pumping...I spent half the nite watching the band and half the nite shielding my face from this idiots elbow.....his drunken idiot friends never shut up. and several times me (and a few others) told them to shut up!!!....shouting obscenties all nite..as if they were having a contest who could scream the loudest, during the quiet moments of the band..I paid to hear yes, not these idiots...there were several times when the taller idiot just tried to climb right over me in attempt to get closer..those guys really took away the fun for me...I took my son (it was his 17th BD), along with his gf and my daughter, always fun to turn the "younger" generations on to the music I have loved for years..not the same yes as the 70's but still good enough....I highly recommend seeing them, as you never know when it will end...

What can I say! Again, as usual Steve, Chris and Alan blew me away! Benoit David did a fabulous job and sounds absolutley beautiful and Oliver filled his fathers shoes quite nicely! what a talented young man!(whos just as cute as his father was at that age) I even laughed when Steve made the comment about how the audience was quiter after he finished his solo than they were while he was playing it! What a shame that the people around us thought it more appropriate to "chit chat" during his solo! Steve performs these in every concert with the acoustic guitar and I look forward to it and give it the respect it deserves by listening and letting it into my soul. I did tear up too as usual... so moving and poetic in a way. Steve, I listened and enjoyed it THANK YOU! To the entire band... Thank you for yet another Magical YES night. One I will remember and continue to get goosebumps when I close my eyes and re-live it in my soul!
