Radio Forrest Sunday, September 24, 2023 9:30 PM During an August 2020 interview for the "Radio Forrest Podcast" YES lead singer Jon Anderson was asked about touring with the Eagles: Q: You got to play with everybody, opened for Sabbath in the '70s, performed with Queen... I even heard that when Eagles were opening for you they introduced the band to cocaine? "Yes, well, I never took any, but I know Chris [Squire, bass] liked it. The last show we did with Eagles, we became friends - I love these guys - and they were great. "And we finished our show - 15,000 people - we get up-stage, backstage, there's no lights, it's all dark, and it's like, 'What the hell is going on?' And there were guys with flashlights, like, 'Come this way, the lights are gonna open up.' "What happened was: we finished up in the room, and it was so dark, couldn't see anybody, and then all of a sudden the lights came on, and there was a table set up with the Eagles standing behind with two dozen pies, they threw these cream pies at us, and I joined in, and it was the best time ever." Randall Mullis I was on the 2nd row in front of Chris. What an experience! I will never forget how moved I was by the music. After listening to their LPs and then hearing them perform the tunes live, I was stunned that they were playing the pieces with such precision! The music was exceptional, outstanding, mesmerizing, unforgettable, positively wonderful... The Eagles opened the show. Bernie Leadon was high as a kite and played awful. He used an Acoustic amp, the one with the white horn in the speaker cabinet. Ouch! I was right in front of him. Glenn Fry kept looking back at him and frowning at him through out the show. It was truly an odd pairing when they joined Yes onstage for their encore and played a straight RnR tune. I think I remember it being JBG. Dale Brittain I believe Heart of the Sunrise was the 2nd song. When Jon Anderson introduced it, I remember turning to my friend Danny and saying "This I gotta hear". I was just surprised that they could play these incredibly complicated songs live. miles wright This show was only half full because Leon Russell had played in Memorial Stadium earlier in the week. A wonderful show with the Eagles. Everyone came out at the end for an encore. Dale Brittain I was on the front row for this show. The Coliseum was about half full. The band opened with Siberian Khatru. They did not do Starship Trooper, which was disappointing. The final song was Yours is No Disgrace, when the eagles came out and stood around. I remember Bernie Leadon of the Eagles beating one of Alan White's cymbals with a tambourine..Great Show...1st time I saw them |
