I had just turned 15 yrs. And was attending a boarding school in Syracuse ind. when I was able to attend this show… Nothing like these guys…. The concert was at the ND Bra.
Interesting stage with what I recall as clam like objects… not sure what they were as I was way in the back.
Bottom line, Close to the edge was terrific as were all of the other tunes… Funny, we did not realize at the time, just how blessed we were to see this line up!

Hey Drrandy, you have a cassette of this show? let me be the first to say - dig out that tape! There would be lots of us here who would love to trade with you to hear that piece of history.

Yes playing for the Irish - I never heard of this. My high school was heavily Irish and we were known as the "Little Irish". In sports, we tended to liken ourselves to Notre Dame, but we never had bands as good as Yes play for us!

My first Yes concert. I remember that there was a Notre Dame Hockey Game going on in the same building the concert was, as you could see the hockey game through the windows while walking into the concert.
And yes, Lindisfarne did open.
Somewhere I have a mono cassette tape of this concert that I recorded on an early Sony Walkman.
Great concert!

Anyone remember the 100 or so cadets from Culver Military Academy?

Bascially, I had a choice: get a seat with the seniors (which I was) or with my fellow Bandsmen - the band was far more tolerant of reefer - so that is where I sat. Great concert - it turned several people on to Prog Rock!

Actually there was an opening act for this show. It was "Lindisfarne"

No opening act.

Our seats were so far back they were almost in the parking lot. I like sitting there because I can take in the whole event from there.

I remember on Close to the Edge they used a glass ball at the beginning during the "water part". It was suspended over the audience and a white spot was on it as it turned. Made the whole audience look like an ocean. No, I wasn't on drugs. At the end when the "water music" returned, the spot went on again, this time it gradually changed colors. Super effect!

I also remember on Roundabout after the quiet "In and around the lake..." when the band comes back in on the G chord with the keyboard solo, Chris Squire did this jump and landed as he hit the G. Cool.

Their performance was flawless.
