The album was rehearsed and recorded in Vancouver, Canada. I had the pleasure of meeting the band and attending one of their rehearsals. The thing that pissed me off is that they didn't tour The Ladder in Vancouver. It's a pretty good album and I was so disappointed they didn't return to Vancouver to perform it.

I saw Rick Wakeman on Friday evening at the Rosehill Theatre in Whitehaven. I managed to spend some 15 mins with him discussing his health, Nina , Adam etc etc.

I commented on how 'Wakeman like' i though Igor was on the ladder tour especially during Awaken. Rick commented that Igor had phoned Adam and asked for all of Rick's settings (note for note) for awaken.

I got the impression that he (Rick) was not too impressed by this and told Adam so.

He also told me that Yesgroup had contacted him about touring on the Ladder 99/2000 shows of which as we know he declined.

I suspect that after his health scare etc etc Rick is concentrating on playing without all the pressures of being in a group.

I asked Will Alexander if it was he who triggered the Disney-Kinks intro to "Lightning Strikes", as to my eyes it was clearly not Igor. He told me that Alan triggered that intro, and also tapes on Homeworld. He said there were others too.

Need to stress, that there were two Yes shows in Poland planned. A bit amatourish promotion agency stated however, that they were able to organize only one show, so the band resigned at all :(

2. Fender Jazz bass for Face to Face.
3. Mouridian CS 1974 (the green one) for Homeworld, Lightning Strikes, and The Messenger.
4. Raney 8 string, It Will Be a Good Day, and Hearts.
5. Elektra bass (the one with the effects in the back of it), Cinema, and they go right into Owner so he doesnt switch to the green one.
6. And finally the Triple neck bass. I have no idea who it is made by. I know the it consists of a fretless 4 string on the bottom, a freted 4 string in the middle, and a smaller six string.

I did hear second hand that some of the members wanted to be at home during New Years and thats why the Philly 12/31 show didn't materialize.

Rick

On some stages where space permits, they are using the Homeworld game icon towers and have speakers towering next to them. On other nights, the icons are gone and the speakers have been suspended. It varies stage to stage but I am sure they work this out well in advance of seating.

In the recent Latin American tour [Steve Howe] used 2 Steinberger, a Les Paul, a Gibson, a Telecaster, the Fender Steel, the Martin, a Spanish guitar, and some more that I don't remember or just didn't recognize. I think he had around 12 guitars or so.

I just got this note from a friend:

Hey, I have some big Yes news!!! I found all this out last night. On Thurs., Will Alexander (Emerson's keyboard tech) got a call from Igor Korochev asking him if he would like to do the keys for the upcoming Yes tour. Will jumped at it because ELP is not at all happening now. This what Igor told him: the band is all meeting in L.A. the weekend to begin rehearsals. The will be rehearsing at a studio in N. Hollywood. The 1st shows are from 9/2-9/15 starting in Santiago, Chile and ending in Mexico City. Then they come back to L.A. for more rehearsals. The US Tour runs from 10/10-12-/10. They have a couple of weeks off an they are booked to play in Philadelphia on New Year's Eve! Right after that, they go Europe in Jan. Feb & Mar. The US Tour will resume in Apr. 2000. The word is, is that they will be playing a lot of smaller venues with like 1200-1400 seats.....that's the full scoop...

A good personal friend of mine, who happens to live near North Hollywood (Glendale) and works for a company which does sound effects for movies, has passed on a little tidbit to me. I DO NOT vouch for its veracity.

They rehearsed "South Side of the Sky", and a bunch of songs he didn't recognize during the time he was "in the vicinity". I pressed for details, but he refused to give them. (I think he just didn't know and was covering up that he had nothing else newsworthy to report.) He couldn't tell me if they did the middle section or not. (Probably not?)
