Joey wise Tuesday, January 14, 2025 3:09 PM I hate when new information renders previous information moot. The setlists for both Dec 15th and Dec 16th are called into question by the release of the Close to the Edge Super Deluxe edition. On this release is included a “full” recording of the Dec 16th show. However clap/mood for a day is missing. We know that during filming only Clap was captured, and as indicated by the performance only clap was played. We still don’t know what specific night that performance came from so it could be either. However one performance from Dec 15th/16th would’ve only been Clap and the other would’ve included mood for a day as well. (Unless by chance neither acoustic song was played on the 16th as the recording suggests, which would leave the 15th as the night clap (and only clap) was recorded.) Jay It was at this same show that Badger's 'One Live Badger' album was recorded! Steven Shinder By the way, Jeff, I got the Yessongs CD a couple weeks ago and I didn't hear any crackles or pops on "Firebird Suite". Steven Shinder This is definitely the best Yesshow ever shot in the '70s! 1975 - Live At QPR has some sound flaws. The Glasgow 1977 video was only shot by one camera. Live In Philadelphia 1979 doesn't have very good visual quality. In Yessongs, the camera angles and the blue and purple lighting are what makes the film as artistic as the Roger Dean art that comes with it! The other videos I mentioned, though may be flawed, are still good documents. Yes sounds and looks good no matter what the quality. Squirehead I remember a passage in Dan Hedges' bio where it said that a film crew arriving at the Rainbow on the day of the concert and said "We're here to film the show". It seems like nobody knew about it and that there was no special lighting (the few crowd shots are indeed quite dark). Cherokee Basically Eddy Offord decided to film the concerts at the Rainbow less than 24 hours before the show and asked Nigel Lubey (one of the engineer crew who was an amature film buff to get together some of the crew and some cameras to film the event. It was not at all a professional film crew and the stage angles and lighting were less than ideal. Jeff Smith When I first listened to the YESSONGS cd, I thought: what the hell, this is mastered off a vinyl record! Then I realized it was just the Firebird excerpt that was from vinyl. The clicks and pops weren't so noticeable on the *vinyl* YESSONGS. |
