Joey Wise Monday, March 10, 2025 8:03 AM Final review on this 2025 SDE topic unless further info comes out bc I’m taking too much space on this website! Both the and you and I and heart of the sunrise from the tape of this show included on that release are mislabelled and actually come from Nov 12th Greensboro NC. Also Both of which would eventually end up on the Yessongs album release so these versions are not new unfortunately. Joey Wise Monday, March 10, 2025 7:48 AM Yes Dec 16 1972 review (As taken from the 2025 Close to the Edge SDE) No chatter, recording fades out between songs, numerous dropouts Siberian - spirited, one of the better of the tour, drops out near the end but very well worth a listen All good people - spirited, very good version, not many audio problems Heart of the sunrise - spirited, again one of the better of the tour And you and I - spirited, might be the best version from 72. (Mislabelled as Dec 16 but actually from Nov 12 Greensboro, NC) Ctte - there’s a fair few amounts of issues with this one (at one point the recording reverses into the verse? Sounds like a tape problem but kinda cool), though the ending after the pipe organ solo is very strong Rick solo - very fun, plagued with audio problems Roundabout - spirited, same as movie Yours is no disgrace - spirited, same/spliced as movie Starship trooper - spirited, same/spliced as Yessongs album Yessongs film audio sources (edit) I’ve seen all good people - Dec 15 The clap (unknown, likely Dec 15, no recording listed for Dec 16) And you and I - Dec 15 Close to the edge - Dec 15 Rick wakeman solo - Dec 15 Roundabout - Dec 16 Yours is no disgrace - Dec 15/16 Joey wisw Saturday, March 8, 2025 5:21 PM This concert has been released in part on the close to the edge super deluxe edition. And now for something completely different. Yessongs film footage likely dates- I’ve seen all good people - Dec 15 The clap (unknown, likely Dec 15, no recording listed for Dec 16) And you and I - Dec 16 Close to the edge - Dec 15 Rick wakeman solo - Dec 15 Roundabout - Dec 16 Yours is no disgrace - Dec 16 Joey Wisw Friday, March 7, 2025 2:04 PM Regarding the Yessongs album and the release of this concert on the “Close to the Edge Super Deluxe Edition.” Yes recorded both Dec 15th and Dec 16th. We know the versions of “Close to the Edge” and “Starship Trooper” on the album are from the same source as the movie. Well, we now have an audio source for the version of starship trooper! The close to the edge doesn’t sound similar enough to the album so we can assume that’s from Dec 15th. Joey wise Tuesday, January 14, 2025 2:56 PM This concert is to be included on the 2025 Close to the Edge Super Deluxe edition. Mood for a day clap is missing from the list. This could be for many reasons. The Setlist offered for Dec 15th also lists mood for a day clap. However, we know from the Yessongs film footage that only clap was played on the night of filming (which could’ve been either 15 or 16th.) One of the setlists from either date had to have only included “Clap.” Track listing includes Disc 4: Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72 1. Siberian Khatru (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) 2. I’ve Seen All Good People (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) a. Your Move b. All Good People 3. Heart of the Sunrise (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) 4. And You and I (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) I. Cord of Life II. Eclipse III. The Preacher The Teacher IV. Apocalypse 5. Close To The Edge (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) I. The Solid Time of Change II. Total Mass Retain III. I Get Up I Get Down IV. Seasons of Man Disc 5: Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72 1. Excerpts From “The Six Wives of Henry VIII” (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) 2. Roundabout (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) 3. Yours Is No Disgrace (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) 4. Starship Trooper (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72) a. Life Seeker b. Disillusion c. Würm Steve Snowball So, 33 years ago was it, that I saw the amazing Rainbow concert with Kath and Les Payne and Claire, my girl at the time? The Rainbow was a rock venue icon of the time. We had seats five rows from the front of stage and the set was stunning. Backdrop, courtesy of Roger Dean's designs and dry ice billowing into the first two rows! To my mind, the very best of Yes line ups and a stunning set of well-executed songs. The rest, as they say, is history but the journey home in my Wolseley Hornet was memorable in itself. |
