my review from yesfans.com-

i was expecting the worst. theyre supposed to be previewing/supporting the upcoming LP they did, but all the setlists/spoilers ive seen showed yet another full set of "classics". i mean, no complaints from me on seeing more tunes live ive never experienced, but ya know. i was hoping to see what the some of the new stuff sounded like in a live/ "raw" setting...but i cant complain...

last feb 2010, HOB was FREAKING PACKED!! last night, maybe 1/2 full; and thats me being generous. got there late due to traffic on the way home from work being the culprit, so we (me, my dad & my sister) couldnt pull the 'eat in the restaurant & sneak in the side entrance' thing we did last year to be dead-center 5 feet from the stage on the floor. grabbed a bite & a shot at the jazz-bar next door lamenting how bad our SRO tix might be...walked thru the restaurant/lounge doors of the venue about 20 minutes after the doors opened to the side door entrance. no one stopped us. 3 people in line when we walked up.COOL!!! got frisked & carded, and walked in to see a sparsely populated floor area. we took our stand about 15 feet from the stage about 6 people deep, just slightly right of center stage, & waited about 20 minutes until the show began.

they started with Paralells. something was wrong with the start & they kicked in kinda sloppy while the house feed faded up REAL Fast and they all looked over stage-left all looking "wtf??!!??" at someone at the on-stage soundboard area. a few bars in, it became apparent that the 'click-track' Alan's playing to is WAAAY slowed down from the tempo the song is at on the GFTO LP. i was cringing and expecting the worst. but they hit EVERY accent, riffs were PERFECT, and the sound mix was so HEAVY & CLEAR it started not to matter in the slightest. Guys were NAILS on this, albiet the slower tempo. Tempus Fugit had an awkward start, and i think they cut the intro down by a bit, making it a bit awkward to me to hear. but they just laid down the LAW on this one, and the maybe 1/2 full venue went totally LOUD & Crazy with Benoit commenting on being happy to have such an enthusiastic crowd. (how passive/lame are the crowds like at other shows?? one could only wonder...). YIND came next. just AMAZING, including an extended Steve solo/jam that brought to mind the version on Yessongs, or any of the encores ive heard from GFTO tour show tapes. Steve was just on FIRE & in another world and the band More than responded. things were looking up, and i started to get an un-removable smile on my face...crowd popped HARD afterwards. band looked genuinely surprised and everyone was smiling; on-stage and off. then Steves roadie brought out the steel guitar. i was hoping for a 'surprise' AYAI, but we got treated to a Fine rendition of "Soon" that had the crowd DEAD when it started, but More than enthused & cheering when it ended. the intro tape to CTTE edge blurted thru the PA, then died real quiet. me & my sister looked at eachother & smiled knowing what was coming up. some guy standing directly behind me spoke out "ok, lets see if Oliver can do it". i turned around & said to him "ive seen him do it twice. his Daddy taught him well. don't worry". effin' AMAZING performance & the crowd was near riotous at the conclusion!!! Steve came out front for his solos. Second Initial was REALLY intense for those who were down front, but lotsa people around me thinned-out for trips to the bar/restroom. maybe they wanted Ram or Mood For A Day or Clap??? fine with me!! we got to get a few people closer to the stage, and the Intensity of this solo piece was just GRAND!!!. then we were treated to an acoustic rendition of "To Be Over". this is probably/arguably my all-time FAVORITE Yes song. i was glued to what i was seeing/hearing. im not much of a fan of acoustic renditions of 'band' songs, but...WOW!!! seeing the intensity & intrica
