I wasn’t originally planning to see this concert, but then discovered that Henry Potts was planning to, so we arranged to meet up. Arriving early, we managed to hear some of the rehearsal from the back door of the concert hall. I picked up a bit of ‘Tempus Fugit’ on my phone. Then we headed off to a nearby bar for a light bite and drink, and on to the gig.

It was an enjoyable concert. The new material from the Fly From Here album featured prominently and came across well, especially the suite. Benoit David sings well, though perhaps lacking the charisma his front-man role might otherwise require. Hearing ‘Tempus Fugit’ from Drama alongside ‘Life on a Film Set’ and ‘Into the Storm’ (very powerful live) confirms the family resemblance between the Yes in 1980 and the 2011 line-up.

Talking of historical precedent, my records confirm that exactly nine years ago today I was listening to Yes and Porcupine Tree at the Tower Theatre in Pennsylvania. The journey continues.

They still keep on rocking! I had a really good night, so did one of my travelling buddies, but the third.......he did say he'd accompany me to any concert as he loves live music, but not a fan of Yes.

Some Yes purists may argue that this isn't a proper Yes line up. It is a bit of a mish mash of The Buggles and The Syn. The music is good, though to be honest, they really need Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman in the line up to be the real Yes.

Looking at the music line up, I seem to remember The Man You Always Wanted Me To Be was in there somewhere. I'd most certainly see them again, hope they find a couple of slots for Jon and Rick and hope to see them again soon. Keep rocking fellas!
