Zolias Tuesday, April 18, 2023 12:26 PM Capacity 6.000 seats Mark Sams marksams11@rr.tx.net This was my first concert. 15 years old. My parents wouldn't let me see Alice Cooper at Pirates World and this was consolation. Remember Poco? Before Yes came onstage some guy in front of us was saying "yeah, they're a bunch of midgets!... OK, Jon is a bit altitude challenged, but I thought Chris was the tallest midget I'd ever seen. All I knew about Yes was that I liked The Yes Album. My best friend use to play it while we first experimented with what everybody else was experimenting with. A DJ at WSHE in Ft Lauderdale used to play "Yours is no disgrace" a lot, claiming it was the "best song ever recorded". I walked out of the leekee teepee a changed head. I started hanging with Yes heads, (mostly musician types) and went to all the 70's era tours.(Jon, remember arguing with that smartass in the front row at Miami Jai Alai about how to pronounce Relayer? Wasn't me. I dreamed of being in a band like Yes, and eventually formed Teysha, in the 90's, in Lubbock Tx. Go to Nowhere radio for a sample. I just want to thank John, Steve,Alan,Chris and Rick for giving my musical life a firm direction and a standard by which I judge my own music. MAS David Terrar This was my second Yes gig, having seen them at the Crystal Palace Bowl for the debut of CTTE in the UK the year before. I was 16, staying with my brother for a few weeks over Easter - he was at the Miami School of Medicine. It seems crazy now, but so few English people visited Florida at that time, so everyone we spoke to at the concert assumed we must be connected with the band in some way. This was my first introduction to a US stadium gig - a huge auditorium, but which Yes seemed to fill with ease. It was all great stuff, but I remember Rick's solo spot being brilliantly over the top, and a great CTTE (as usual). Jim Tuesday, December 6, 2022 11:59 AM I was at this concert in April 73. Caught a drumstick that was thrown out to the crowd at the end of the concert. Still have it almost 50 years later. Says "Premier Made in England" on it. GREAT SHOW!!! Jim reedpgh@verizon.net Tuesday, December 6, 2022 12:05 PM Yea guys like you I was 17 in 73'. What a time to grow up. So many concerts. So much fun. |
