Simon Barrow Monday, September 28, 2015 9:12 AM A day’s break and then back to the City Hall in Sheffield, and a good seat near the front. It was certainly buzzing tonight. Jon Anderson continued to have ‘senior moments’. Chris Squire pulled his leg before ‘Face to Face’, asking him if he knew the name of the song. He didn’t and had to be reminded. Charitable smiles all round. No set list changes this evening. I’m enjoying ‘Homeworld’, from The Ladder, rather more in concert than on disc, especially with those booming bass pedals. I remain unconvinced by the ending. A tad too twee for my tastes. Overall, another good show from the band. Cathy I certainly agree with you there. I was lucky enough to get tickets for the front row - it was amazing. I've never had front row seats at a gig before, the sound was so different from sitting further back. Instead of the sometimes distorted sound you get from the large speakers, you could hear the music coming from the musicians' speakers and you could pick up every note, although at times Jon's voice did sound to be drowned out. My hubby should have gone with me but he was ill, so my sister came instead. She is not a Yes fan and doesn't know many of their songs, but even she was clapping and joining in with the ones she did know. One of the first things she commented was "doesn't Steve Howe look really ill"! I couldn't really see the full effect of the backdrop and lights, sitting so close, but I do think those were images from the game [Homeworld]. There was a large advert for the game in the back of the tour programme. Igor has improved a great deal since the last time. Paul Redman Brilliant set last night! The City Hall was full and the atmosphere fantastic! The new projected backdrop was mesmerising and complemented the set. Were there excerpts from Homeworld the game? Is it out yet and is it any good? Jon forgot the words to 'And you and I' (again), and couldn't remember some of the names of the songs either. These things can be forgiven. Overall a wonderful night - much better than 2 years ago. Here's to the next time! |
