Dave L I have great memories of this gig. I also had seen Rick with the Strawbs at the same venue and became a Yes fan the day he joined the band. Saw the headline in Melody Maker that RW joins Yes, purchased The Yes Album and the rest is history, as they say. Had front row seats and my lasting memory was the houselights coming on at the end and no one leaving. Yes were forced to do another encore which could have been a 'jam' or possibly South Side of the Sky. Perhaps someone could confirm. Went to see them again on this tour at Warwick University, great gig but de Montfort stands out as special. Ian Ferguson I went to this show with Guy Jibson, we'd previously seen The Strawbs at the de Montfort hall. As we left Jibbo remarked, about you know who - "Fucking good organist, that bloke". Within days Rick had joined the band, so it was good to see him back in Leicester unveiling a bit of symphonic rock in the shape of Siberian Khatru and Heart of the Sunrise. |
