Debra Saturday, July 15, 2023 9:32 PM Yes and ELP 11/71 at Atlanta municipal auditorium. Best concert I’ve ever been to! Yes was amazing but ELP was incredibly amazing with Emerson playing his Hammond in amazingly talented and unique ways. DAVID P. Sunday, October 3, 2021 12:51 PM I was 18 lying in bed when I heard the announcement that Emerson lake and Palmer and yes we're playing at the municipal auditorium in Atlanta. I got so excited that I jumped up from my bed and hit my head on the ceiling. What a great show. Brenda R Great time...was a great place to hear concerts..I also graduated highschool in this venue. First concert I saw was Alice Cooper there when I was 16. Too bad it had to be turned into offices. Can't wait to see them again this year at the National in Richmond VA. YES...I am still rocking out! Tom A. One of the best shows I've ever seen! ELP and Yes. I was 16 years old then, and saw some fabulous acts at the Municipal Auditorium; Alice Cooper, Marshal Tucker Band, Allman Brother's, Johnny Winter, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Cat Stevens....many more. Good times! Lee M. I was fortunate enough to have front row seats fot the 35th anniversary show last year, yet I still remember my first rock show ever was this one at The Municipal Auditorium. Any one remember Live Atlanta Wrestling? Even though they were the opening act, Yes still put on a good show. I just remember listening to the entire Fragile LP before going to hear them. I have seen Yes and ELP many times over the years and it's always a great time. A side note--anyone see Floyd's Dark Side tour at the Municipal? Thanks! Craig Swearingen My first Yes show was 11/22, 1971 although I was already a big fan since their 2nd lp. That 1st visit to Atlanta was the only time I ever saw Yes open with Roundabout (after Firebird suite). Tom Cox This was my first Yes concert and they were indeed the opening act for Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I still have my ticket stub from the show, and the correct date was Monday, November 22, 1971. The concert was presented by Howard Stein, a major promoter at that time. Tickets were $3.50, $4.50, and $5.50. I also still have a small flier promoting the show, Yes listed as Special Guest Star. I live in a small town in Northeast Alabama, but was in Atlanta in a record shop the day the show was announced. I had great seats for the show, right center, fourth row. Both acts were not well known here in the Deep South then, and I've always felt because my early information about the show, and their lack of fame at that time enabled me to obtain such great seats. The main focus of interest in Atlanta was the Who's appearance at the same venue the following night. Unknown Ya see? There ARE advantages to being an old guy. I saw ELP in Atlanta at the Tech coliseum when the BACKUP group was Yes. Boy, was I hooked. |
