We had spent the day at Greenhole jumping off the cliffs into the green water below like in some Roger Dean landscape. The night ahead would bring my first exposure to lasers at a concert and they would also be green. Within the laser pattern the smoke made drifting clouds. Within the half filled Coliseum the sound echoed and rang tinny. It would be the last time YES played Columbia, SC ever. Yes, Tony Yarborough they did open with a snatch of AYAI -the ending Apocalypse. But "call home' is probably "Going Home" from Ritual which was played toward the end. This was my second time of 30 YES concerts that I would go on to attend. Long live progressive rock and rest in peace Chris Squire...or continue to rock on!

This was my first concert ever, and man what a way to start! Had awesome seats (friend and I) and was blown away with the music and light show. Yes is one of my all time favorite bands...Close to the Edge all time favorite album.

Tony Yarborough

I was in Columbia for USC's freshman orientation. There was a concert going on at the Coliseum. I couldn't believe it when I found out that Yes were playing that evening! They had been my favorite band since I bought Tales From Topographic Oceans in 1973. My memory differs as to the posted setlist. I have a couple of friends that were also at that show. I remember them opening with And You And I. My friend Michael says they opened with Soundchaser. I distinctly remember that when Jon got to the "call home..." part of AYAI, brilliant green lasers exploded from behind the stage and the crowd went nuts! There was a song from Olias played about the time Jon did his harp solo. It was the best concert we had (at that point in time) ever seen. On that we both agree.

I remember being at that show, particularly because I wanted to see Chris Squire play "Hold Out Your Hand." He didn't , but the show was a blast anyway.
