I have to say this is probably the best Yes concert I've ever been to. This was my second time seeing them, the first time was the Relayer Tour during the summer of 1975. And I've seen them 44 times since then. But this particular show had a much stronger impact because I had purchased all the albums, including all the solo albums that were out at the time.So I was familiar with all their songs by the time they came to Milwaukee. The staging with Roger Dean's backdrop and the Crab Nebula lighting fixture and the videos and lasers really blew me away! There were soo many musical highlights too: Sound Chaser featured what I consider to be one of Patrick Moraz's most intense Moog solos, I remember taking his picture during that and he looked like he wanted to go

PS- This was the first time I had experienced a laser show. It was a tremendous Roger Dean like set with a projector screen back drop (see photos). I have yet to see lasers like that again. They were not single laser beams. It was a multi-beamed laser band ranging from dark green to light green to light blue to dark blue.

I attended this show. An interesting note... a pleasant surprise occurred. The red hot (at the time) Peter Frampton joined Natural Gas on stage for a number or two- much to the crowd's delight. Frampton's band had played at the Hawthorne Race Track gig (with Yes and Gary "Dream Weaver" Wright- Super Bowl or World Series of Rock? concert) in Chicagoland, two days earlier so he was in the area. I guess he must have had some mates in Natural Gas so he sat in with them. As I remember, a fabulous show by both bands. Jon Anderson had a small set up drums that he played during several songs.

Having just had the privilege of hearing first time an audience recording of this concert [so far the best sounding from what seems to have been a bad year for Yes audience tape quality], I must offer a correction to something in the transcribed announcements -

Where Anderson was introducing Heart of the Sunrise, "The song is about the word called 'love' for when it comes to you. To come to you", I'm quite certain it was "T'will come to you".

I just had to share such an all-important observation!

Beyond that it was yet another riveting performance from an especially riveting tour, even for Yes. How I wish I'd been there, to say nothing of several others. Yes and Rhino really need to get with it and release an entire concert from the '76 tour - especially if a professionally made audience recording can be found. I'm told ELP finally just did this very thing with some Tarkus-era shows, but have no confirmation as yet.

We had also seen them in Milwaukee on August 16, 1976 - at that show, we had our recorder set up and security people came to tell us that Yes would not perform until we took our stuff down. Of course, we did so immediately. (Didn't want an angry Yes mob coming after us....)
