I remember attending this show. The vocals were surprisingly good that night. Squire's bass solo (the Fish) was excellent, as was Howe's guitar solo (the Clap). I remember our seats were high above the round, so we could see and hear everything well. We also smoked weed openly, with no hassles from security. We had a similar experience at a Kansas concert at Cobo Hall the same year.

I'm trying to remember how old I was when I saw this concert. I know it was in the late 70's early 80's. The show I saw the stage was circular and the the singer (I thought it was Jon Anderson but the reviews here say it wasn't him) come down on a rope in white flowing garments. Was this the fall of 1980 tour or do I have the date wrong?

The Drama material made this a great Rock Show. I suspect many fans failed to attend due to Jon's absence, but Trevor handled vocals extremely well (I know, Jon is still THE voice of Yes) and the show was fantastic! I can still picture the light show in-the-round on Starship Trooper. Steve and Chris really let it all hang out, as we used to say. Detroit crowds are raucous (read fun!) and that night was no exception.

It was very poorly attended. I recall scalpers trying to hawk single tickets for $5! The main floor and lower bowl were reasonably full, but the entire upper bowl was completely empty. It was a good show "in the round" none the less. Squire's bass solo was outstanding!

Joe Louis Arena had recently been completed and Led Zeppelin was supposed to inaugurate the place but, alas, Bonzo died -and yet they still managed to sell out the place. Yes, however, was not that fortunate. It was eerie how empty that new arena was. You could walk right up to the stage or go sit anywhere you liked. It was very surreal for me. I kind of felt like the band shouldn't have had to endure this indignity of sorts.
