My first YES Live concert. Yes, I was disappointed with the Buggles replacing Jon and Rick, but beyond that, was a typical magical YES experience. I was disappointed that Geoff needed computers to keep up with Rick, but then again who wouldn't? Awesome concert.

My first Yes show was on the Drama tour in South Bend IN. The show was done in the round, and the stage rotated as the band played. Trevor did very well on all the songs! I remember the sound being the best mix of any show I have ever seen in an arena. They opened with "Does it really happen?" Chris Downes did a keyboard solo during" Man in a white car". They played all of the songs off of Drama, except "Run to the light" Steve played "The Clap" Squire did his bass solo to The Fish. They started "And you and I" with the album version's harmonics, and acoustic beginning, (unlike on Yessongs) They played a couple of songs that were practiced for the album, but they ran out of space to include them. During "Starship Trooper" the last song before the Encore "Roundabout", Alan white's kit raised on a hydraulic platform to About ten to fifteen feet above the rest of the band. Alans kit at the time was the standard five piece, with two timbales added to the left. Downes had some sort of computer with different wave forms displyed next to his keyboards. That was one of my favorite concerts of all time!

What a great show. Horn did a great job (as well as Geoff) and one should not compare them to Jon or Rick. If you took them for face value you probably had a great time at this show. I wish I had a recording of "We can fly from here" as I remember it to be a pretty cool song!! (Unreleased???) Alan White's drum kit included a real cool system for all his stands (for cymbals and small toms etc.) which were all gathered under his riser. (all in a "stationary" position which looked like it made it easy to set his kit up every show.

Geoff Downs had a computer monitor on top of a synthizer. He was one of the first to ever use sampled sounds!!??

A great show for all!!

I saw the band at in the Athletic and Convocation Center on the campus of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN on October 10, 1980. The concert was not listed in the program, but I saw them there nonetheless on a Friday night before Notre Dame played Miami (FL), just before Miami started getting good. During the concert, my car was broken into outside Notre Dame Stadium.

Horn did not have any credibility with me before the concert began. After I left, I remember thinking that he did a very creditable job, though I still had a hard time believing that anyone but Anderson could be the lead singer for Yes.
