The Remembering Tuesday, September 9, 2014 10:16 AM I have seen YES in concert a dozen times at least and this was by far the worst of the bunch. The show was pared down to bare bones (just their instruments and a poor powerpoint show on a screen behind the band.), although this makes sense to keep travel costs down, the musicians looked bored and sounded that way as well.It pains me to say this, but this concert was so disappointing. Steve Howe looked like a confused escapee from a nursing home,(seriously, he never moved except for, once in a while, he'd look around as if he'd forgotten where he was and once,he stepped sideways a few times, the result of which was that he was no longer visible on stage (just the end of his guitar). And he has apparently forgotten how to rock. His playing was so timid. Same for Alan White. The new singer, Jon Davison, sounds a lot like Jon Anderson but doesn't have the power of Anderson. I liked Benoit David better. Overall, the concert was just lifeless. The ending of 'And You And I' was painfully slow. The song 'Five Per Cent for Nothing' was the absolute low point of the entire show. Way out of sync with one another... very painful to witness I am afraid! |
