MartyB Tuesday, September 8, 2015 10:59 AM A couple of quick notes on the show. Toto played first, which seems to have been consistent on this tour from what I've heard. The set list is as described ("Clap" was dropped as in most previous shows on this tour). After the first few tunes, Jon Davison announced that the opening tribute to Chris was particularly emotional that evening as Chris's wife and daughter were in the audience. Just my opinion, but the first half of the show was kind of rough and they didn't really lock into each other until the outro of Siberian Khatru. Sherwood did a good job of covering the bass parts and singing Squire's vocal parts, but you can tell what Chris made look so easy was taking a lot of concentration from Billy. He was mixed in nice and high (I've heard he was mixed low on some earlier shows) and I was pleased to see that he didn't try to replicate Chris' common stage moves (the leaping one finger ending of Roundabout, the walking/leaping from one end of the stage to the other in the first part of Wurm) though he did use some bass pedals in Starship Trooper similar to the way Chris has done. Howe has taken over most of the announcing from the stage, with Jon D sharing the duties. |
