Saw the guys for the 10th (I think) time at Oxford last night - as usual they didn't disappoint.
I was looking forward to hearing the whole of Drama played as I was too young to have seen them back in 1980 when it first came out. This album has grown on me a lot since I first heard it, and hearing it live only improved it.
Highlights included Machine Messiah (great, powerful opener for a concert), Does It Really Happen? (great bassline), all of Fragile and a nice selection of other classics to round the set out; Going For the One replaced Don't Kill the Whale as opener for the second set.
All the band seemed to be enjoying themselves and the songs were played noticeably faster than in recent times. Special mention to Billy Sherwood who absolutely nailed Chris's parts - big shoes to fill, but a more than worthy replacement.
Oh, and to cap it all Trevor Horn came on to sing Tempus Fugit for his first performance with Yes for 36 years! Geoff introduced him, saying how he and Trevor had shocked the prog music world in 1980 by joining Yes. Trevor replied, saying that after 36 years he hoped the fans had forgiven him! Trevor actually sang it pretty well (with a bit of help from JD at the end).
Go and see the tour if you can, it's well worth it.
