Iīm not gonna tell you how a good concert this was, or how I feel for Yes finally playing in my country for the first time after 30 years. This is quite obvious. I only want to share few of this concertīs highlights with you.
The setlist wasnīt very different form the previous shows: the only significant changes may be: "The Maestro" did an astonishingly crisp and clear "Mood for a Day" before attacking "The Clap"; somewhere in the middle of "Perpetual Changes", the keyboards and the bass went off, and Jon called from an impromptu drum solo from Alan, while the technicians swarmed to the stage to fix the problem, which they found out soon: some plugs were "misteriously" unplugged. The next two songs, "Owner of a lonely heart" and "Hearts" featured some very fine solo work by Billy. Then, Yes committed themselves to gave us an amazing live version of Close to The Edge, without missing a single note or noise. It was magical, and the crowd remained silent and quiet like they were in a church. Igor had the chance to make clear that Mr. Wakemanīs presence onstage is always welcome, but not indispensable at this particular time. A five minutes standing ovation was the way the crowd said thanks to the group for such a gift.
After a long and dinamic mix of "Long distance runaround" and "Iīve seen all good people", an exhausted but happy Yes exited the stage, returning to avoid the crowd from tearing down the theaterīs walls.
It was only one more song, but they played "Roundabout" like there was no tomorrow. Itīs hard to believe these four guys are all in their early 50īs!
And so it ended another evening of Yes magic. Thank you all so much for letting me share this with you.
