Well this was incredibly weird seeing this line-up, because I had only seen the Yeswest line-up before and I was a huge Squire fan and now I was seeing this "classic Yes" group with no Squire! Only a year and a half before in the same place I saw Anderson singing all these Yes songs with totally different guys!

When this show got into full gear I realized what all the fuss was about Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman (live I mean). The Nassau Coliseum crowd was loud and appreciative...I mean it was heartfelt like I hadn't heard in the other shows. The treatment of the Classic songs was so much different than Yes West..seemingly more deliberate in tempo, and much less sloppy. This was truly Yes..although not quite without Squire. Great show. Only bad thing was the electronic drums..couldn't fully appreciate Bruford while he was using those I felt

The first thing that struck me was "Man has Jon got Balls" (referring to his "casual" stroll to the stage singing a wonderful rendition of TAAW). After seeing the subsequent appearence of each of the principal band members I thought to myself "Man, do these guys have balls"! I mean, what other band could start off a concert with 4 solos, lasting in all about 35 minutes? They went on to play the same set list as "an Evening of Yes Music Plus" with the addition of "Sweet Dreams". The pedal steel in AYAI was tremendous, as were Jon's vocals. Wakeman blew me away... I do have one question though, How does Bill play an entire concert and not break a sweat? I was in the audience just listening (and occassionally chiming in with off-key singing)!
